But true. And i didn't even mention Fresno has the worst air quality for a city it's size in the nation.

If your question was directed to me.... I am a high rise building engineer. we take care of design, building and maintaining all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire/life saftey systems just to name a few areas.
not sure how much demand there is for engineers out that way other then maybe the colleges.

This is in no way a negative comment about Fresno but 30 some yrs ago I worked on a line crew for Western Union Telegraph.

Our crew was moved from Eastern Nevada (Elko) because of the coming winter. We started in Bakersfield working north. It was probably January when one morning we went to go to work. The fog was so thick we couldn't see from pole to pole but what was worse it was frozen with a little breeze...it's the coldest I've ever been in my life and I've lived in snow country.

Also, one evening I borrowed my co-workers car to go to a drug store. Like a fool I left the engine running while I literally ran into then out of the store...When I came out the car was gone (58 Chevy wagon with a 348). I went to a pay phone to report a stolen car and the police asked me if it was a brown and white 58 Chevy station wagon, I said it was, she said we have it. We'll send someone to pick you up. They had to pick up my co-worker (the owner) too...The whole thing from going into the drug store to retrieving the un-damaged car was less than one hour.

  9. I'd stay at B*** Lake, not as many people and the lake is great this time of year. You can take your wife out to dinner at Ducey's and han out in the village. Yosemite is nice for a day trip.

Prepare yourself for culture shock when you hit Raymond, it's a small one horse town. Close to Madera and Hensley Lake also about 16 miles west of Co****gold, Ca. If you want to move to the hills I think you would like this area better. Co****gold is about 30-45 minutes north of Madera Ranchos and Fresno.

Alot of people come up from SO-Cal to vacation at B*** Lake every summer, Fresno is hot but it is what you make of it. I've met and have made alot of good friends here in the Central Valley From B*** Lake to Tulare. Just remember.......... The gr*** is always greener on the other side until you jump the fence!

ramrod, did you settle in and get some property yet? the last 5-8 years or so I've done a lot of traveling around the country, both driving and flying. the more states I visit, the more I appreciate coming back home. sure, it's not in the mtns, it's not on the coast, it doesn't have perfect weather year-round; but there's a fair amount going on here.

being into old cars, sport bikes, some cruisers, rock climbing, ocean chillin, snowskiing, camping/hiking, offroading and shooting, to name a few, this place suits me well. along with being that I'm an A&P aircraft tech specialized in ag aircraft, there's a little too much work for me around here! plus, being in the middle of an ag community/industry, there are a lot less hippies than at the coast, eureka especially...it always seemed like I'd inadvertantly stumbled upon Oregon when I drove into eureka.

because it's way too much effort to relocate, only to constantly complain about the new location.

The biggest reason is my twelve year old daughter, I doubt her mother would just let me pack up and leave without a fight. If a safe falls on her head or she happens to step in front of a bus (my ex, not the kid).......................end of story, I'm out of here.

I like it here in Clovis, except for living on a postage stamp sized lot. Came 6 years ago as a travel RN, and never left. Property values have now dropped to preboom levels. If you work in healthcare there is plenty of work, and good pay. The air quality isn't the best, but you sure don't have to shovel the heat. And it's more like 75 as a low during the heatwaves. Going to look at property in Co****gold this week. I'm not going anywhere soon.

We don't want muttley to leave, Hes too funny!. Plus, who would be here to remind us of all of Fresno's faults. Which there are plenty. I think you kinda have to have a unique at***ude to like Fresno.
