We are headed to Portland this week to take care of some vintage ford and domestic responsibilities, I'm looking for some other interesting opportunities. Any tips on modernist artifact hunting, old Ford must see's, craft brewing favorites or interesting dining would be much appreciated...
As far as hand crafted beer, you should check out Amnesia Brewing at 832 N Beech st in Portland (near I-5). If you need hard to find parts, mixed with racing history and just plain cool stuff, look up Jack Corley (he's in Gresham, near Portland)
yeah what chris said look for the blue and white striped building in sellwood its about 10 min east of portland best steaks and "desert" in town
For craft beer Amnesia is good, also try H.U.B. (Hopworks Urban Brewery) or Roots Brewing, or Rogue. And it's true the Acropolis is a fine steak house....with dessert.
First off, the Alibi is cool. It is a Tiki Bar on N. Interstate in Portland. Also just off of N. Interstate is a restaurant called the Overlook. I think it is on N. Stanton, but just off Interstate. It is one of the best places to eat in town. Another cool place which is in the same area on N. Russel St, is the White Eagle Saloon. It is a McMenamins brew pub and is a well known, very haunted saloon. It has been named one of the 10 most haunted places in America. If you need addresses, PM me and I can get them for you. Enjoy!
Alameda Brewhouse, NE Fremont St, close to the airport. They have about 12 homebrews on tap, and can add N2 to any one of them if you like. Any McMenamin's, they are all very unique, but my favorite is the Kennedy School. Detention room is even converted to a cigar bar, can't beat that. I read somewhere that Portland has the highest per-capita of microbrews in the country, so don't be afraid to ask for a taste or two, most places are very accommoding.
