just be careful with the moth balls if you got dogs and cats that you llike, i was told they are poison to good animals if they eat them.

If you got a neighbor you don't like put the car in front of his house and run an extension cord to it. Get one of those electronic gadgets that scare them away. The mice will head for the neighbors house and your car will be mouse free.

Ultrasonic pest remover. Just plug it in and the sound waves make them go bonkers.

WoW! funny timing, I just snapped my first this past weekend. I got to the garage and found a styrofoam cup, thad HAD ice tea in it I forgot the day before, tore up... I mean swiss cheese tore up, straw too!. I decided I had enough (been happening off and on) and took the front seat(clearly home sweet home) back out, pulled the carpet out washed/dried it and set a trap with a Cheez-It cracker where the seat had been before I left that night. Next morning came in and found 'em DOA. Figured I'll have to repeat as needed, but hey its a start. Funny how them lil basturd find a home, and keep returning to the same point....

Now if someone could clearify the toxicity issue mentioned earlier about the droppings/piss?

give you several cats in So. Calif. I didn't want cats till I started finding the mice and rats in the tig welder and all my equipment. A few chews on the wiring and I am in deep trouble. For the cars and trucks in the field outside I leave the hoods open seems to stop them from nesting in the engine. I put a pan full of mice/rat bait in the seat area and the next day it was all gone thought I had the problem licked, a few days later I found all the bait in the carb air cleaner they had carried it throught the air cleaner snout and set it all up for the future. I prefer using a boa constrictor, they love mice. Of course then you have another problem after the mice are all gone.

The trouble with poisons is they never die out in the open where you can easily dispose of them. I've spent lots of time trying to locate where the stinky bastards have finally kicked the bucket in my shop. I like the glue traps. They work and you know where they will be.

I've cleaned an ass load of mice nests from old cars over the years. The worst one was in the headliner of a 40 Willys sedan. It was more like a subdivision than a nest.

You have to remove the seats. That seams to be their favorite and the old nesting material smells to high heaven long after they have abandoned the nest.

I recently bought a radiator off of Ebay. Mice had made nests in the top and bottom tanks. The whole top tank was packed with nesting material. I should have taken pictures. The bottom tank must have been their dining room. Shells and seed pods kept falling out of the lower hose nipple when I unwrapped it. It was unbelievable. The jerk claimed that it held water but had not been tested. It hadn't seen water in 20 years. It may cost me more to have a radiator shop disassemble it than a good used one will cost. I always worry about the Hunta virus (sp?) that was killing people in the west.

My buddy swears by and uses Irish spring soap bars in everything he stores for the winter. It seems to work for him.

I had a rat infestation in my garage. I put poison down for 6 months and they didn't even touch it. Had one of the electric traps as well but they never went into it. They are really suspicious of anything new.

In the end I bought an eight shot CO2 air pistol and just shot one when ever I saw one, 6 weeks later no more rats and my aim has greatly improved.:D

Just in case you're not a marksman, may I suggest a 12 gauge shotgun, 8 shot or trap load shells will work fine on mice, and not bother your shoulder to much. This would work especially well now that the seller has screwed around and raised the price.....just remove the mice for him, that way he'll be sure to get his price from the NEXT potential buyer.

A guy at work has a wife that can't stand killing anything so she goes to the pet store and buys pinkies (baby mice for snake food) raises them and then lets them go. I've seen 'better mouse traps' that use a liquid container. The mice crawl in and drown - this would be good for a stored vehicle that doesn't get looked at frequently. When using a spring trap, candy works good as bait. My favorite is Redvine licorice -cut off a piece and the holow core slips over the bait tang nice and snug so they have to work at getting it off.
