I appreciate the feedback guys. This is why I am posting my ideas - I like to hear what you guys think.

S**** the second idea (post already deleted). I have to agree with you guys that the original design was a better, more period correct look. My second design would honestly have been too much of a compromise. I am going to go back and revisit some of my original ideas.

When you first mentioned this a while back, I responded that the Melrose Missile graphics were more of a mural and that I preferred the cleaner look of the Yeakel Plymouth car. Funny, but a Missile-type design was actually one of the first that I had come up with. More than anything, I gave up on it as I just couldn't quite get the graphics right. You are right though. The '63 Plymouth Melrose Missile has to be, in my opinion, the best laid out design on any of the Super Stock cars. I had to agree with some of the feedback on this thread that my Hayden Proffitt Yeakel Plymouth inspired design was "too wordy". The other design I posted (the eliminator one) was too much of a compromise, so I just s****ped it and deleted the post. I decided to revisit my original Missile idea and give it another go. I have spent the past few evenings playing around with it. It is essentially an adaptation of the '63 Melrose Missile III. I think you guys will like it.

PS - It might not mean a lot to all of you, but of all the designs I have played around with, this one is my little girl's favorite. She loves the "rocket" (as she calls it) on the side of the car.

It might be a little plagiarized, but it is really cool.

Yeah, its kinda plagiarism - but I like to think of it as a tribute to one of the baddest cars ever. Not really looking to create my own race car, just wanting to create something fun.

If you look closely at my old design you will see that it borrowed just as much from the Yeakel Plymouth car as this one does from the Melrose Missile.

Ok, I think your mission is accomplished, When I looked at the latest version, I smiled. When looking at the previous designs, the reaction was that's nice, that's cool, well done, but the last one makes me smile.
    I think that's the goal.

Yep I agree...do the tribute...looks fine...watch your Car # and cl*** placement ...search the Hamb for some Vintage "equipt." decals (that'll finish it off) and show us your Beast when your done...Another cool wagon was "The Behemoth"... had "Dauber" from Kentucky cool lettering ...later sixties though.

Oh my God that is it!!!!!!!
    IMHO.
A tribute but in a totally *****en Canadian sort of way. My dad has always told me how wild those from the north can be, and I see what he was talking about.
You make us Mopar freaks proud!
    Keep up the great work.

There are lots of ways to letter a car. The "swing" or "stylized" letters, incorporated with some art to pull them all together, really make a car stand out. The sanitary design you started with was popular, too. It depends how you want the car to strike people when they see it. I really like the missle. Maybe a more 60's era, bold lined rocket, using the same vintage space/atomic power theme with some of the other lettering might work nice? Humor and cartoonish themes were real popular. It might add a little more charm to the appeal of a wagon. Just my 2 cents. I love the car, I really hope you pull the trigger and letter it up.

It's been some time since my last post regarding lettering up my car with some old-school drag racing graphics. I still haven't given up on the idea, just waiting for the right design come to me. I was stuck for a while and needed to take a break from the whole idea and just enjoy the car as is.

Lately, I have revisited the idea. I have been playing around with a reworked version of the Manitou Missile idea - I updated the design to be based on the '65 Melrose Missile graphics (instead of the '63 graphics I used before). I think it works quite well...

    OK....I have to say it,,,,

My friend had a fancy paint car with grafics and lots of lettering , ended up painting it a solid color ,

said it got old driving a "clown"car , where everywhere you went people looked and pointed at you.....

So if you do this know that you will always be seen , even if you do not want to be seen,
the cops will know who it is and where you live ,
you cannot hide with a billboard on the side of your car.....

Now if its a weekend car , then I take it all back :) :) :)

    I like it...orginal.
I used a online site to get a bunch of fonts for my buddies tattoo shop, and was able to download them all for a decal cutter we have here at work. Dafont.com I think. Was able to brose all fonts with the wording to see what all there was.

I prefer the 63 version over the 65 style, unless you 2 tone it with the blue it loses the vibe your after.

I have to say I like the orriginal design in your first post the best. To me it looks more like a sponsored racecar.
The latest version has a match racer vibe to me, which would work if you altered the wheelbase a little.....;)

This is EXACTLY the reason why I have yet to pull the trigger (and probably never will). As much as I think the lettered-up super stocker look would be a killer look at a car show or at the drag strip, I think it would be just too flashy for the street, where I prefer the sleeper look.

Right now I am just having fun playing around with some design ideas. Obviously, nothing I have come up with yet has been enough to convince me to go ahead with it.
