SFDH it all, I really screwed up now. I cracked the windshield in my 1959 Ford Ranchero. Anyone out there have one? Any 1959 Ford windshiled will work i think.
I might be way off base here but some of those 50s cars had different windshields for 2 and 4 door cars! I think it was my dads 59 Ford wagon that he had to get 2 different windshields for because of this.I would think that a 2 door windshield would fit from a wagon in the ranchero
59 Galaxie / Fairlanes will do ya. I know there is a 59 Galaxie Parts car in my area; not sure how shipment would work but I can give you more details if ya email me direct. You should also hit up my friends over at Ranchero US to see if anyone has a line on one in your area: http://www.ranchero.us/forums/index.php I also have info on the "Ranchero Wizard" if that doesn't work. Worse case scenario, my friend who chopped his 59 Ranchero was able to form a new window with Tap Plastic; heating the corners to get the rounded edge. Its in the back of my mind, if ever anything happens to my windshield I am going to chop her! While you are at be sure to join-the West Coast Rancheros: http://www.westcoastrancheros.com
Good news. I found a brand new windshield for the Ranchero. The costs was actually not too bad for new and tinted. Bob's cl***ic gl***, 1800-624-2130 if you need gl*** for your cl***ic.
I have one of these to do a remove and refit on front screen in England and just wondered if there are any tips on fitting . do I string in from top and bottom from middle out or do from side or all four corners. any help is appreciated. thanks , mark , england
Damn, this is an old post resurrected....... The middle out. Do the top and bottom at the same time. It takes two people minimum, better with three. One to hold slight pressure against the gl***. NOTE: Make certain that the windshieled frame it is going into is clean and SMOOTH with no burs sticking out, File these off. You can m***age the shape of the frame, but not the gl***...LOL. If you change the shape of the gl***, you will buy another windshield. Good luck
Granted,it is a old thread but when doing a search on a specific subject the the archives do not differentiate whether it is a current topic or 10 years old. HRP
I know its an old thread but that's the great thing about this site , all the info is out there if you search. I thought it would be the std top and bottom in the middle but just wanted to be sure as a new screen is harder to get in England for this truck lol. I have got to remove it first as the last builder didn't fit the bottom trim and the screen is slipping out across the bottom so I will check aperture condition while its out. I am a time served gl*** guy but just thought I would check Thanks for your help
