Quick update. They pulled her central line yesterday. So the only thing she has is her feeding tube and 3 wires to sensors monitoring her vitals.

They upped her feedings too. She is getting 15ccs of milk/formula every three hours. (up from 10 on monday which was up from 5 on Saturday) Most of the time it is difficult to feed her because she is asleep. So its tough, but when she is awake she eats all 15cc no problem.

She is still on a continuous feed which has been bumped up as well (they hang a bag of formula and it is fed at a constant rate 24 hours a day) Which is why its difficult to feed her sometimes. She is never really hungry.

And her ostomy bag hasn't had to be changed since they discovered the right way of doing it...

Nicole spent the whole day with her yesterday and gave her a bath... and Juli loved it. She didn't fight or fuss. So I'm hoping she will be a good baby for us.

It doesn't matter... I'll love her all the same. :)

Man, my prayers are with you and your wife and little girl. I know how tormented and helpless you feel, because we almost lost my daughter shortly after birth. Her stomach was not fully developed., and she was on a special pre-digested formula for almost a year. She's 25 now and expecting her 4th baby in July. The Lord does answer prayers, and you see how HAMBers are behind you. Your wife needs you now more than ever and you need her. Be there for each other and know we are all praying for that little angel's recovery. God Bless....Ole Pork

I can remember my oldest son had some concerning medical problems when he was young. I know how you feel. I am really glad she is doing so good.

Our hearts go out to you. Our daughter has a heart defect which requires surgery when she is 3. I am a licensed nurse so my heart especially goes out to you. May the lord lift your spirits and ease your troubles while your little girl is healed by his power. I will pray for you and your family, at church this Sunday if you don't mind I will have a community prayer for you. God bless and good luck. You can also ask me any questions you may come across, as I said before, I am a nurse here in NYS. Take Care Guys!!!

Its been a while but here is the latest. :)

Juli has been slowly progressing on her feedings weening her off of the tube feedings and increasing her bottle intake. The big worry was that as of her 1 month birthday she was still just below birth weight.

So they increased her calories by putting her on a different formula. The worry there was that she would not take to it and they would have to try another.

Well, luckily she did just fine with it. She stayed on it for 5 days then they bumped her up to the next higher formula and she was on that for 5 days.

On Saturday they decided to turn off her tube feedings and have her try just the bottle. They left the tube in place incase she didnt do well and had to turn it on.

Juli let them know how she was going to do by promptly removing the feeding tube herself. :)

Just 5 minutes ago I got the call from Nicole. She told me to take Wednesday off because they are sending her home!!!!

    !!!! :)

At the 6 week mark... six long weeks of tears, prayers... and hope... our little girl is finely coming home!

I have to thank everyone on the board for all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers. I totally believe that she did so well because of all of you.

I cannot express how much that means to me and my family.

As soon as she is settled in I'll take some pictures and share!

well after a week of "she's coming home" "she's not" we finally have baby girl home with us. She's getting a pitstop behind me now. (diaper and ostomybag change)

There was a ton of drama. The "best surgeons in the country" wanted to keep her and do the surgery at 6 weeks instead of 3-6 months. When asked if Juli was ready the surgeon said "She's close enough."

"close enough" is fine for timing or setting a float... but its not acceptable when it comes to major surgery on a six week old little girl.

So we declined and had her discharged. The doctor who has been in charge of her care for the month as well as all the nurses said we made the absolute right decision.

It all came down to insurance money they weren't getting. There is no other reason to push a baby to a surgery 3 months early...

But she's home and our first night was eventful and that warning about not getting any sleep finally hit me at 2 am. And 5 am. And 8am... :D

thanks again to all of you who PM'd me for updates and everyone who said a prayer for her. :) they didn't go unanswered.

Here is Juli at home enjoying her new swing!
