    Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the thread, but been hot rodding and racing for years. Recently I aquired a 1950 Buick Super 4dr that is in great shape and will make a great restoration, but....

Part of me wants to create a 4dr rod with this one. The idea of cruising with some friends in the back seat with plenty of room would be cool. This would also be carseat friendly... even thought the hobby is not.

I don't know... dropped definately, chopped maybe....

Never in a million years did I think I would be sitting here contemplating a 4dr hot rod.

    What are your thoughts?

Agreed, drop it a little, throw some WWW's on it and drive the wheels off it. It's plenty cool already!

That's the worst idea I think I have ever heard. The car is cool how it is. Maybe give it an altitude adjustment but not much else. The flat black thing would kill a car like this. At that point I would say burn it first.

    Have you lost your mind?

Why is there such a compulsion to ruin perfectly good paint for the Krylon Sick Boi Kit Flat Blakk Koolnezz? But hey, it's yours, do what you will...

No flat black, not on a car like that! As mentioned above, white walls and maybe a drop and drive it...if it needs a repaint...it must be glossy!

Then give it one gold tooth up front!

    hahahahahah good joke!

    wait...you were kidding, right?

like it's already been said, just lower it and get some wide whites, cool 'caps and away you go! Don't ruin it by painting it flat black. My '53 Chevy is flat black at the moment, as I'm driving it daily while I do the rust repair. I despise the color... to many cars localy running flat black.

You guys are a tough crowd!!!

OK, so I guess I could lower it, add some WWW, and drive it like crazy with the original found in the barn paint!

with all the flat black cars driving around lately.. painting yours flat black would be worse than "the far away look". I'm so tired of black cars I don't even give them a look in the first place.

it looks good to me, just lower it. but if i were you id wait a couple years , until the "ratrod" fad wears off before painting it flat black and painting the rims red. you just might kick yourself in the ass for flattingout an already decent paintjob. but as the old addage goes, its your car, do what ya want to it

that found in the barn paint you speak of..is what gives that car character..slapping flat black on it, would ruin it..patina is not something to be ashamed of..

    NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Dont cut up a nice car! If you want to cut something up, buy a junker man! That sucker looks awesome!!!! Flat black? Save that stuff for your project junker. That boat is SWEET! I agree, drop it, and wide whites, and cruise the hell out of it. It's cool already!

That thing is badass as is..
I am no prude but please dont cut that one up/flat black it. just leave it .
WWW's and lower it and get it running/mechanically sound, stopping etc. You will have a cool cruiser for the summer.
meanwhile save for a good paint job.

Big four doors look good dropped. Period. It'll never be a Hot Rod or Custom so why even consider trying to make it something it isn't. It's a solid old car that'll be a blast to drive around in comfort.

Trust me, I've got one, and I've been threatened if I ever touch the "Far away" paint.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Right now I have the car running and driving great, I think I will start pricing some drop spindles/springs/air bags etc. That will raise the cool factor cosiderably.

Now that is a cruiser! Whole family, plus dog and groceries

  26. Paint it flat black. Really. IF you're into fat chicks, they seem to love that style. And you'll save SO MUCH dough, you'll need to chain your wallet to your pants!

You know, if you are unsure about a 4 door I can take that Buick off your hands for say $500? You can apply that to the 2 door of your choice!

You should keep it though, its cool. And the faded factory paint and the really old repaints that are starting to give up give a car character. The chrome still looks decent.
