Can I make a 4 door Buick cool.......

That car is f-in beautiful. Before you ruin it, sell it to someone else (like me, as this is my DREAM car)

In all seriousness, search will yield two things about this car:

1) Chopping it is 'impossible'
2) Flat Black is not a color for it.

Not beating you up (sorry about the 'ruin' comment) but lower (a tiny bit) and WWW is all it needs (and it really doesn't need that either)

this is where the saying.."less is more"..really works well.

that car should be set up mechanically sound, new www tires would be sweet..maybe 2" down in front..and 4" in the back..and leave it alone.

 

do the drop and wide whites. by leaving the paint alone you won't be trying to look like all the others. my 62 more door Caddy is wearing a 30 year old paint job and i think it makes all that much better.

 

I've never liked four door cars, and like someone said above, it'll never be a hotrod, HOWEVER, with some minor changes like those suggested, that is a very cool car, and the patina can never be duplicated. Just give some the suggestions a try for a while, and I'm sure you will never regret your choice, and you will be amazed at the good comments you will get.

Get a fedora, pipe, and curb feelers to go with the visor and drive everywhere at 17 MPH with a turn signal permanently on. Shake your fist at hoodlums in roadsters. Live with your car, not against it.

 

Do NOT paint it Flat Black!! If you do I won't be your friend anymore. Oh wait I don't even know you. Drop it and add wide whites like the one above and everyone on here have begged you to do, Please!

You've already got the sun visor. Did it come with skirts? If not, you can likely
find some. Maybe some wide whites with vintage flipper style caps.

Another possiblity is maybe two carbs with split exhaust manifold. I have no idea
what that straight 8 would sound like with a pair of Smithys or other mufflers.

Yep: exactly, the gold chain brigade pays a fortune to have "custom painters" duplicate the look that car already has.

It looks pretty good to a lot of us who have at least another year of steady work an many good stacks of $$$ to get our rigs on the road so we can have some fun with them.

 

I like the black walls and the hubcaps that are on there already...with the color there they look good. Looks like it was lowered from the factory...plus a little help from gravity.

NO. Not with where you are wanting to go with this car. Take everyones advice, drop it and add wide white walls and then don't touch anything else but the steering wheel.

Many years ago I left a 53 Roadmaster on the side of the road in Southern Illinois..straight 8 locked up..gorgeous fukin car. I would do most anything to have that car back..

Just my opinion.... any buick rod is cooler than any chebby rod. Maybe I am kinda bias but I don't think so.... just as any guy that is trying to get the buick look by adding the down sweeping trim or portholes to his car. Hell even PEPBRO's is selling porthole mocks now.

I agree that battleship grey isn´t the most inspiring colour. What about this? Lose the doorhandles and some minor trim, and a black roof, so you can hide the roof pillars a bit better and lose a bit of the foor door look.

 

Buicks are cool the way they are, leave it alone! If you have to do something, how about upgrading the brakes and some pearl paint? That really is a great car, one of my favorites.

I agree with those saying to leave the paint and just add wide white walls and lower it. Thats what I did to my 4dr Buick. Not a good pic of mine but the only one I could find right now.

Buicks are cool just like there came from the factory.....However I think a big ol 50 would be so cool lowered, WWW and a nasty exhaust for the straight eight. That's a sweet ride!!

 

Flat black it and you wont have the "look" at all.

Lower it, put some WWW's and your set. Fender skirts also make this car look a lot different (better) I'm still looking for a good set. Here's a few pictures of my 50 super, I have bags on the rear. I'm going to add some caps and skirts. These are cool as hell, they look like a train coming down the street from the front. Still thinking of what color I'm going to paint mine.

screw it dude...just get it running and stopping good and drive the hell out of it just like it is.
that is one cool car as is.
find the right connections for keeping that straight eight in prime condition (i am assuming it has the eight).
you don't have to make it cool...buick took care of that issue some 58 years ago.
now it's the cars job to make YOU look cool.
