I would really rather be working on my 28 Sedan but for now my sons 86 Firebird calls. This one has buckets and these cars were made from 82-92 and both Firebird and Camaro are the same. I am trying to get the head rets out. It is set up with a flat sliding bar system. Can anyone give me the combination on this one? I was told to slide a hacksaw blade down in and pull up but that is not working. Any suggestions??

  2. Your on the right track with the thin long blade. I have a tool for this. Here is the trick, Pull the headrest all the way up, then insert the blade in the front center. push the blade down until it stops. Be sure to keep it center and straight. Now push the head reast and blade down together a couple inches. Then pull up on the head rest only. The blade should prevent the spring latch from catching.

    Hope this helps!
