I bought an 87 GMC S15 P.U. from a friend. Near new rebuilt Iron Duke 4 for $200. Almost everything needed fixing. Had my Chevy mechanic neighbor diagnose and make it run. Computer and oxy censer $200. Seat, lamps, ign switch another $100. DMV and Insurance another $100. I'm not complaining. 32 mpg. Then 15 in rims and oversize tires in back 35mpg. All without overdrive. I'm thinking with a Pic A Part 5 speed another $125 maybe pushing 40 mph. And it's a P.U. And it's AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!

I'm puttin around in a '87 CRX. It cost me $300 (the cost of the new tires that were on it). I've been offered $2900 or more a couple times from kids w/dreams, but it was always at the times when I just needed to get to work and not worry about finding another nice peice of crap to get me there.

I've also gone weeks w/eating cup o' noodles to afford a show, or a intake that will just sit on a shelf(because I always wanted one). I'm cool w/it. The girlfriend issue is another thing.

I have a 1991 Toyota Celica with the 1.6L 4AFE engine (smallest produced)

Bought it for 4K with 30k miles in 1999, then proceded to put 280 thousand miles on it. The clear burned off four years ago so I had maaco slap their presidential special (at 50% off) on it....3 weeks later I got sideswiped, took the whole right side of the car off, the insurance co totalled it. I bought it back for $60 (their payout to me was $2440 with the buy back deducted) , sunk a total of $300 into junkyard body parts and repaint the side. a week after it got out of the maaco I got rearended....BAD. Insurance co totalled it again....same ins co (progressive). They gave me $2240 ($60 buy back) total that go round. That accident cost $75 to fix including paiint the rear bumper and license plate surround (the majority of the damage was in the unibody that I pulled out).

A week later a brand new 2004 HD wideglide with 40 miles on the odom ran a red light in front of me, I took him out. A police officer was sitting at the intersection when it happened and said had I not hit him he was gonna pull him over. he ended up carring lots of paper. Anyway, I bent the bike in half and totalled it...bent the driver in half too, he was messed up.

Who was the insurance co you ask? Proressive. they totalled the car again and a walked with $2000 (and I quit repainting the car)

I now have 330k on it and JUST changed the original clutch.

At times I think my daily belongs in the scap heap.. '93 escort wagon w/ 223,000 clicks (about twice the miles they were enginered to go). I paid $500 about 5 years ago and put nearly 80,000 miles on it. I've hit 2 deer with it so the hood is bent up and the grill is gone. When I open the hatch I have to prop it open with a 1x3. All 4 struts are blown out and the rear springs are broken. A/C never has worked. RR door doesn't open. Drivers door doesn't open from the inside. No gas guage, no dash lights. It will eat up a new tires on the rear in about a year so I just keep finding used ones. Broken exhaust, real bad sputter (some sensor is probly gone wacky but it will never tell me when I install a scan tool), etc. etc. etc..... It gets 30+ MPG and hasn't left me stranded (except 1 or 2 times, tree branch through the radiator and a failed alternator) I hate to think what I'll do when it decides to give up. Maybe we'll buy the wife something and I'll get her '94 Merc. Tracer wagon that only has 215,000 clicks !!!

my daily truck is by now means the crapiest, but i have accquired a decent amount of body damadge in the last year, tread is real low on the current tires one leaks pretty damn good to the point a plug wont fix it and its not worth dismounting and having patched, i sold the nice wheels i had becasue the 35" tires were low on them and i didnt want to be bothered with havin them dismounted, so im rolling on what looks like donuts on black steelies which are bent, not my doing. the tailgate doesnt really open because i backed into a tree which buckled the bedside. its only 5 years old but has taken a beating and rather than fix it id rather put th ecash into my old stuff.

My daily is an '88 Gran Marquis wagon, white w wood grain [family truckster]. Bought it two years ago for $800. Has towing package with 3:55 gears, duals and tranny cooler. I've put 50k on it, it hauls my kids and upright bass, has ice-cold a/c. Fortunately, the wood grain helps to hide the rust! My goal is to see 200k--and keep going. With those gears, its hard to get 20mpg consistently, but the car does EVERYTHING I need it to. I LOVE box-body Panthers, I've had 6! When I'm done with this one, I'll take the rear axle and all the other goodies and transfer them to the next one.

    hi,

a 77 vauxhall(gm) vx2300 gls, based on victor fe model range.

a much unloved model in the uk, slowly gaining popularity.
its never been welded(in a uk climate!!!) and original paint etc.

hope to get roof flaked this summer.

    cheers chris.

I have an 02 impala which isn't too ghetto

but my newest pride and joy is a 1978 Sachs moped. It's baby blue and gets 70mpg. The only bad part is when the float sticks wide open and you have to try to stop it.

  23. My Daily..... bought the thing for $300, running and driving put brakes, put a 4 barrel, and duraspark ignition and drove it. Got hit by an 18 wheeler, that was too cool to stop at stop signs. and got $2700 for it and then I put a new motor. Now I drive the thing 200 miles a week. best truck I've ever owned..................... but thats prolly just because its the only one that ever ran hahahaha

well believe it or not i bought a 94 lincoln town car site unseen for $700 just for the first generation 4.6 and tranny. the guy said it was put in the barn for reasons he could not remember and was wanting it out of the way. so i mail him the money and go pick it up 3 weeks later. when i back the trailer next to the barn he opens it and i find a pretty straight car with 2" of dust on it and the ass sitting on the ground. we load it up and get it home, i pop a battery in it and it cranks. when i look at the odometer its sitting just over 26,000 miles. i wash it off and start looking at it and this car is mint, so needless to say i cleaned it up and start tinkering with it trying to find out whats wrong with the suspension. a .30 fuse takes care of it and for a little over $1000 i have me a new lincoln town car after the new set of tires from Sams!

the best thing is this thing is fully loaded and gets 18 in the city and 27.6 on the road.
