Thats it. What was the project which demanded you less money, time and effort. Did you enjoy it ? Pics are welcome..... Diego
The cheapest one's were the one's that had the most effort in them...that's why they were "relatively" cheap.. Financially speaking my 53 is the "cheapest" i've done.. TONS of work though and still not completely done..the interior is going to be a small fortune.
Right now my Model A Tudor.. but thats because its still a project, Im hoping it doesnt take too much to make it a runner..not really going to worry about the looks dept. at this time..I just wanna drive it.
POS 57 ford p/u i had in the late 70s , rattle can primer , cragars with 60s on the back , drove this as my daily work truck for about two years until it finally took a dump and i sold it to a kid down my street .. no idea what the kid did with it..
idk if i would consider this a project but i bought a 62 econoline pickup for 1600 turned around and sold it for 2100 and got a 94 nissan pickup the next day. fixed the motor in the nissan pickup and sold it for 4500. easy project. EASY MONEY!!
This is really not a comparable question. Heck, you used to be able to buy running driving Model A's for $100. I bought a 67 GTO Convertible in good condition for $1100 in 1979. I remember looking at a 57 Chevy that was in running driving condition for $750. My neighbor bought his 69 Z/28 for $800.
58 Belair. Bought it for $500.00 drove it for several years without doing anything other than routine maintenance Sold it for $1000.00. That was in the mid 80's though.
My 63 Nova 2 door hardtop. Great little grocery getter. Straight six means relatively damn good mileage. And at this point, I'll take mileage over power for my daily. Of course, while I'm in the UK and paying about $10 a gallon, I won't bitch about $4.50 in the states . . . . but then again, the taxes on their fuel fund health care . . . .
I bought a 76 Caddy Fleetwood, he said $100, I said $50, so we settled on $87.50..It ran great and started on the work to turn it into a Derby car..won close to $1000 with that car and eventually hauled it over the scales for $161..car never did stop runnin...
Ahhh, i thought you meant relatively current stuff... The cheapest by far was a 4 speed 79 malibu i built about 15 years ago..paid 500 for it.. Did up a budget 283 for it, had my dad's friend paint it on the cheap and drove the hell out of it.. Probably had about 3K into it when it was done. Had a great time with that car.
My current daily driver is a retired '95 Caprice police package with the LT1I got for $1500 at a city auction. I traded some labor for a paint job, installed lowering springs, and some turbo mufflers. The thing that gets the most attention came with the car: a platic backseat and full steel and plexiglass cage. Total cost is less than 2 grand.
Well, actually I was thinking about more recent stuff, sorry for not being clear..., Of course 20 or 30 years ago demand and prices were much different.
My 1954 F250. Given to me by friends. Scored a small block at the yard for $100 that was like new. Did a home rebuild 700r4, twice. oops. Home rebuild on the 9 inch. Painted it in the garage. Hauls huge loads of stuff and is fun and reliable. Only took a winter to do. Best project ever.
Nice to have friends like yours man... and great to have a chevy Small block for $100. Ruined Ford 302's, 351's or chevy small blocks from 283's to 350's go from us$500 (totally incomplete or burned) and us$1500 (hopefully complete and running). Im talking about factory, tired engines. Someone willing to export good factory running V8's ?
