Starting BBC Part Two! Bad Holley Carb??...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HotRod28AR, Jul 6, 2008.

  1. So I got oil pressure finally and proceded to fire it up. I've got it timed right (not 180* out) with the right firing order, on TDC. Problem is it doesnt seem to be getting gas. I figured the fuel pump was bad and swapped a brand new one on I had around the shop, and still, nothing really squirts out of the carb (Holley 750 dual feed). If I prime the primary bowl, it will fire off for about 5 seconds at best, but I can't keep it running. If I throttle it wide open by hand nothing comes from the secondaries, which are mechanical. Had a good fiery backfire too at one point. Fuel tank is a Moon 2gal mounted out front with a clean vent hose. Seems like the ignition is doing its job but that carb is iffy.....any thoughts?? Thanks,

Check your line from the pump/filter, alot of times a dirt dauber's nest is the culprit!

I have a small inline pressure gauge after the pump and before the carbs and it is well worth its cost. Quick and easy to make better diagnosis judgments when you know what is going on at that point in the line.
