I am building a 31 tudor and i want to put air ride on the back of the car so i can drag the frame and shoot some sparks. i know its not everyones cup of tea but..... anyway i am also running a flatty with a 3 speed and i am worried about how much of the drive shaft will be inside with me. the frame is Z front and back and the body/frame bottom is about 8 inches from the street. I see alot of Model A's on here almost on the frame and was wondering what the tunnel looks like and what they ran for sus*****on in the back. Its Z'ed 3.5 in the front and the back is 10 right now but will be changed soon. I hope this is enough info thanks guys....

Drag frame why would you want to do that?

its hard to say how much drive shaft you will have till its where you want the ride hight.

in this case since you want it "minitruck" low I would say your going to be using your
drive shaft tunnel as an arm rest.

    Hope that helps.

I have a nice ride height now and was thinking about that but i dont want to have a huge tunnel which i think i will. sorry guys just trying to have fun.... and i was thinking last night about it more and i dont think its going to happen. Are there any pics of tunnels that people ran with the really low A's

Mines not on the ground, but pretty low. I think my tunnel is about 10" high. It depends of how high your motor is sitting in the frame to.
My tunnel is made out of 4mm thick steel so if the driveshaft brakes or something it wont come up threw the tunnel.
    Some pis.

Its a bit hard to see in the pics but the tunnel is higher in the rear.
With the seats on the floor and some padding on the tunnel it works realy good as a armrest.

Can't you just build the car as you want it, with the tunnel removed, see where the drive shaft sits when your frame is on the ground, then build round the drive shaft? I can't think of a better way to do it, without simply guessing where it needs to be?

Thanks for the pic Nick. i was really thinking about the air ride last night and i dont think i am going to do it. with how my front end sits and i am not running it suicide it will put my drive shaft at a really crazy angle and just make everything more complicated.. thanks for the pics. your car looks great

Don't you just love the Mini truck comments? I guess we are not cool enough and hard core as such. A bunch of know it alls eh, BS! Oh well, keep it low bud! I did mine just like Morrisman says, build the tunnel last at the lowest height.

Like Morrisman said, build the car and sheetmetal the floor accordingly. We built Todd Ashby's 29 with coilovers and a 3-link in the rear..

Thanks again for the help and CMX your not making my choice easy haha sweet car. I live in Cleveland Ohio and the roads are anything but flat ___/\____/\____ thats how our roads are so i am about 8 inches off the ground now and it will drop a little more with the motor so i think i am good. maybe i will make it lakes style.. and the reason im asking is cuz i like to plan ahead before i even do something damn common sense...
