Well I signed the lease for the new shop today, got some keys and opened it up. I'm going to have the electricity turned on today, and it will get wired for all my 220 stuff this Sunday. The following week I need to get some work benches built. I have a 3x8 top with breaks in it, 1/8" thick for a table along the back wall. Along with my TIG table, the welders and drill press. Then I get to start moving stuff in, and pretty soon build a new frame table. I'm excited. This means I get to start on the frame for my 30 soon. I'm going to have an open house the third week of July, with free food and free soda. I'm really excited too BTW. First shop at 19..
I dread moving my shop again...We are looking for a MUCH bigger location. mucho ****o. Cogratulation on the new digs! remember the rules. #1. have fun. #2 make money. if it interferes with #1 or #2, it ain't worth it.
Well, it is 220 capable, but there are no plugs. And I need about 4 or 5. Theres a ton of 110 plugs, about every 6 feet, its nice. Its capable of 440 3 phase as well. So now I need to talk my grandfather into selling his lathe to me. I don't look forward to moving either. But they said if I want to expand and the lot to my right is still open I can knock the wall down and acquire more space that way, and still pay the same $/SF just with more space. Thanks for the tip, sounds like good advice. I plan on having plenty of fun. I just hope it brings the money as it has been.
Good to hear that you finally are getting your own shop and looks like a great start to run with your talent! Just remember the small people when your are famous I take it right now you will have just the one bay?
Thats it for now. But I can knock down the wall to the right to have more room. The pictures makes it look small, but I could fit 5 cars in there like it is and open the doors. After I get my work benches, and I will have room for 4. But once I get a lift, I could store 5 over night.
I do need a big door logo with my hours and stuff. I need the sign on the top done too, but I am not sure on the rules and regulations for doing it, or having it done yet.
One thing about having your own shop is that you will NEVER get to work on your own stuff. Shop looks cool though, fresh new walls for lots of graffiti...
I have the smell of new sheet-rock coming from my monitor!!! That floor is way to clean. You need a set of burnout marks on the floor. And dump some gear lube on the floor,it'l stain it up realgood and that aroma in the morning is the best. Congrads>>>>.
I'm hoping that doesn't turn out to be true. I just expect my projects to be slower. But at least I have the room to do it now!
Already bought a couple of gallons. Thanks for the tip! Its not all that bad. But if you live outside of California, it looks pretty ridiculous.

I don't think my sedan will be ready for your open house . Keep me updated on your progress and your open house. If you need somebody to buy the beer I'm over 21 . LOL
^ Bring out some pictures at least! Lol. I'll let you know when I get things finalized for it. I'm going to at least get a keg of Root Beer through my Dad's candy store, and I have a friend that owns a keg that he may get filled. I have to feel out the situation for alcohol there though. I'm not sure if other business will play the tattle game, because I could possibly get in trouble for serving alcohol without a license. Maybe they would take a beer as a bribe though.
Well, I've finally just about got everything wrapped up inside, and should have power early next week, so I can finally organize everything. I had no idea PG&E was so difficult. Anyways, I ordered new shirts to have at the open house, which will be the 27th of this month. Heres the proof:
congrats...nothing like that first night when ya get the keys and ya stand in there and map it all out in your head...soon the echo will be gone and hopefully the cash will start to flow...a little advice...the best part of having your own shop is you can work as many hours as you want on something you really love...but be careful as eventually a few of your fringe buddies will try to take you away from making a living...it's fun to b.s. and hangout but the landlord has their hand out on the first of the month...EVERY MONTH...GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
