Hello fellow Hotroders just wanted to start a thread showing the progress on my Hotrod that has been at least a 7 year dream in the making. I am using a 1917 Dodge Brothers Tub on a 1929 model A frame with a 12" Z out back and a 6" perch drop up front. My power plant is now a 1949 ford 8BA with three speed and a 1949 ford rearend. I am trying to build this car as period as i can with only parts pre-1950. Well thanks for looking and i will try to keep this post as updated as i can and add more pictures this is just a taste. Also any comments as far as mistakes you have made or things to do and not to do will always be looked at as a great help because i am first to admit that i do know some but nothing at the same time.

    Thnaks, Timmy Z

    Yup, more photos!!

  7. Looks sweet. I just got rid of a cowl (I should have saved it) from one of those Dodges of that vintage. Still have the firewall though. Does yours have an "X" stamped into it?

Need some input from you guys........What grill shell do you like better? 1929 Ford model A or Tractor grill? I kinda like the Model A myself but i am running a flattie now so i dont know if my rad will fit just yet but tell me what you think.
    Thanks, Timmy Z

With the rounded lines of the Dodge body, I like the rounded A radiator shell vs. the squared tractor one.

Hard to tell from the avatar pic, but ours is a 1918 Dodge body.

Don't use the tractor shell. Unless you want it to look like a tractor.

I like tractor grille shells, but have to agree the A shell looks better with a DB. Why not use a real DB shell?

Sweet car, my vote is no tractor grille and no ford grille. Revel in the car's dodgeness and get it an early mopar grille. They generally don't go for much money. Bout a 26/27 has a nice rounded top with sort of a model A look, but still distinct.

    Good luck

  20. I agree, let it stay a Dodge.

  21. Nice to see another Dodge Bucket. Show us some better pics and keep the square grill for the corn field.

Thanks for all the swell comments i was suprized !!, its been awhile since i logged on.
I hear ya about the Grill Shell i want to run a old Dodge grill....but i do have a mint flattie radiator that i want to use. If i remeber right (i am prob way off...bear with me) but isnt the 26/27 dodge shell pretty darn small? I have made some progess on it since, some of them being dash and gauges mock up for canvas removable top and mocking up seats (and making vroom noises of course) i will post recent pics in a few days so stop by when you can to take a look.

The '22-'27 shell is about the same size as an A shell. Early ones are smaller.
