Hey there! I wanted to see what people are running aside from your typical 97's and 94's...what else is out there? I need ideas!!!

  2. Rochesters of course. Also, Carter made a real cool 2bbl with the 3 bolt Stromberg style base.

I've not seen them on rods, but early Lincolns had some lumpy lookin side drafts that would look cool as hell on a hot rod.

Not 2 barrels but I soon will be runnin 6, 27mm single barrel side draft carbs from a 600cc yamaha street bike. Motorcycle yards have tons of them on the cheap... I know, I know....... It aint traditional, but Ive already got'm and they look *****in in a row. Easy to link together, easy to sinc, and with 6 velocity stacks stickin out the side of a straight 6, easy on the eyes too.

  6. I dont but Glenn (Ahotrod) knows. I think they were on Mopar stuff in the 50s.

    Thanks!!

I also think I know the lincoln carbs you mentioned, they are actually back drafts like the 50's Oldsmobiles used, but cooler! keep 'em rollin'. Any body have pics?

Some straight eight Buicks used three bolt two barrels--both Carter and Stromberg. I think the Strombergs were the AAV model that had "Aerotype" cast on the front.

I have six of the old holley "94" replacements on one motor and 4 ready to go on another. Seen them at swaps for stromberg money but I've been collecting them from VW swap meets for years. They were the old "Bug Spray" kit Holley marketed for vw's and corvairs. Every part for them is still available.

I used a rochested 2 jet from mid 60's GM. Bolted to a Merc manifold (late flathead 4 bolt pattern) . The thing works great, the jetting seems to be right on.

Carter made a 3-bolt version of the WGD carb as a direct replacement for Fords. They were sold in the 50's and 60's and were listed as being a replacement for all '34 through 53 Fords. These are good carbs. They show up at swap meets and on eBay, if you are watching for them.

The C B&B carbs you seek start about 1966 in the Mopar stuff - at least that's where you'll first start seeing them in the junkyards...

Stromberg WW. They're cheap, easy to work with and build, and they're about a give-away. They even have side-draft versions!

  17. The WWs were what Stude used with a back draft - I think maybe for hood clearance - in the mid-50's.

I have about 100 odd carbs, some of the cars I bought in '06 came full of them, lots of 1 and 2 bbl good cores, plus a few junkers. Carter made a lot of different two-barrels - WGD, WDO, WDB - used by different companies over the years. I have a batch of the big Stromberg Aerotypes, too.

    Got any pics?

You may be able to move some. :)

Have any WW side draft cores (or just the tops)?

I plan on using three 36/32DVG Webers on a 3-2 manifold in my Ford Falcon project. That works out to a four stage progression an a 3-2 set up. Once set up it should run great.

Would you happen to have 4 Matching Aerotypes? I looked in the loft for my box of Aerotypes and they seem to have evaporated...

Do you have an idea of what the best Carter would be? I want to use 6 or 8 of them.

  23. 8 2bbl Carters? Wow.

    I'm sure there's 4 or 5 Aeros, at least one is a three-bolt, but I haven't looked at them in a while.

  24. The WGD is the one I wwas reffferring to, very simple inside.

Yep 8 2brls, I think it would be sweet, and I have a 394 Olds that would be a perfect canidate. then 4 Aero types for a 500 Cad, and I found out my Grandad has Stromberg WW's up the wazoo, so I think a herd of them would look great on top of one of my 303's, the other one is getting a couple Rochester 4brls off of 2 early vette motors my Grandad had, I don't remember the model off hand but they are small and look pretty sharp on the Offy intake I got.

Would you be willing to part with the Aeros? if so go ahead and shoot me a pm with a price and I'll send you out the money I just got from my Stromberg 94 and 97 reduction sale.

Thanks everybody for the help I think I found some carbies that will work great for my projects!! But if any one gets more ideas I'm open for them, I still have plenty of mills that are need of multiple carbs!!

    Way to go.
I used tillotsons because i was familiar with them from my snowmobile days. just got it running last week . here is a first test cruise video.http://www.dropshots.com/Dolmetsch#date/2008-07-05/23:25:18

Got it working better even now. Yamaha carbs would be even better probably.
Despite all the naysayers (and there were lots) it is obvious at this point it is very do-able and very exoctic carbeuration at junk yards prices. Like you said with 6 velocity stacks it looks great. Fuel pressure was my biggest problem. I had to get it below 4 PSI for things to work right. Carbs with rebuild kits NOS cost $130 or about $.1384 per cfm. Mine are 1 5/8" or about 42 MM i think that is.

Talk to Chris at http://www.cad500parts.com He'd know, and he's on the HAMB. :)

Actually, I put him in touch with the U-Fab guy at http://www.lakeheaders.com - he can likely have you one made, or get the kit sent to you so you can...

In my never ending quest to run what's cheap/free, I am building this. A pair of 1963 260 Fairlane carbs will reside on it and will propel my 260 (hopefully)

I've always liked the idea of running multiple carbs, like the same ones that came off the engine. Like 6 2g's on a 425 olds, or 4 W1's on a Dodge sixer...2 260 Carbs on a 260...But I tend to get a little crazy because my grandad can build any carb for any set up (He's building me and intake and carbs for a Chrysler 213 Six, but it's running 12 W1's...I thought it was pretty crazy but he keeps re***uring my it will work perfect...but he won't show it to me yet)
