Snap On top? Lucky you...I can't afford ANYTHING from the Snap On guy.

Seriously, I like what you've got going on there, Robert G.

ya im 6.2 and i need more head room in the rear of the cab , Yes its more like a model a roof and yes the panels in the back are made on an english wheel the side ones i have to just roll . The 8 inch chop was done on the car by the last owner and i fixed it best i could without removing more metal . I did want to make it a ten in chop . I wouldnt have taken that much if i had done it so i put this roof on .thanks

Thanks for EVERYBODY's input ! Cool thing.

Robert, thanks for sharing, looks nice, great job ! Don't worry about highjacking this post.I enjoy every word.It would be great to see more detail pics.Would be really appreciated.

Blackout, your top looks like something we had on our mind. What is made from...wood ? And how did you attach it to the car ? More details would be great !

(And...you mentioned radiator height matching cowl height...critcal point to make these cars look really right.Ours is channeled over a Model A frame too, height of frame, radiator is custom-made by pre-owner,very small one but still not small enough...)

Where were you guys when I posted this!!!! Never even got a reply.
Mine is a 27 and is not chopped, but has had the deck removed to be a 5 window closed cab pickup.
Wish I could post pic's but just can never get the pixels down low enough to attach.

I would be happy to email anybody who PM's me as I can attach then.

Sorry also for hijacking your post, but seems like the boys are in the mood now. HELP!

    Thanks, Russ.

I have a T coupe body that I would like to make and fit a full sheetmetal roof to, BUT I dont know where to start!

Does anybody out there have any leads or have done this exercise previously.

Any help or links or experiences would be great.

Just looking at it first up it looks easy, but once you look at it closer a few times it would be one of the more difficult roof's to do properly.

I would like to have a raised edge and then run into the roof similar to how the original T coupe looked.

Blackout, thanks MUCH for info and pics.I'm sure I will have a couple more questions for you as we move along with the top.

Btw,our car needs gl*** all around beside front window, also is missing window regulators and parts of the inside opening mechanism.Any chance you or somebody else can post some pics of a Model T Coupe door without door panel ? That would help a ton. Also,if somebody has any parts left,we take'm.

Mr. White ! I've always been as much Hot Rod as I am Custom. This one is Firestone blackwalls on '40 Ford steelies with '40 Ford hubcaps,no skirts, not even fenders ! How's the Merc ? Time for an update Ant !

Thanks Blackout ! That helps a bit.We were hoping to see more of the window parts...the channels in which the window goes up and down etc.etc.

What about a close-up pic of the inside door openers ? You gotta understand, our car has just the bare doors with door locks on only, the rest is missing.Just trying to get a picture of the whole ***embly.

Door locks? Are you sure they are not the latches, originally they look like door locks.

    Finally got my pic's working.
Here is a shot of my T coupe rebuilt into a 5 window pickup cab.
Basically the roof remains the same as a coupe.
I can see why so many T coupes never get a roof done.
I want a full metal roof with some shape and form and dont really want to deviate from the T look.

Heres mine its chopped 6" channeled 4", the roof is just 3/8's plywood actually its 4 peices cause like you said its wider than a 4ft peice of ply so i just cut 2 peices then cut another peice if 1/4 maple ply and screwd and gled it on top of the 3/8 but it was rush job so ill have to do iit again so it looks goood when i cover it with 1/4 water proof foam and black top vinyl

Funny I was working on my doors this afternoon, and noticed the p***enger door has a key lock, Driver's doesn't!

That's so you could slide over and exit at the curb!

Fifty V8 could you use something similar to Black Magic's outers and form sheet over it?

Thanks everybody for the additional replies and pics ! Our roof is almost done...we will get it back from the upholstery shop next week.Very simple roof built from 3/8" plywood, looks super cool, pretty happy with the outcome.

Btw,anybody has more pics and info of this Road Knights car ? Would also be intersting to see more pics of grille shells and radiators on channeled T Coupes like this one has...

Yeah, thanks Blackout & Black magic that wood roof does have some appeal to it and I guess that is an option of covering it with metal.
    Good thinking 99!
I am going to think that thru.

Oh Nooooo Mr. Bill, that's the second T coupe to leave us in a week! Roadsters are cool too, of course. Maybe the new owners will show up here.

If you look at the front the board on my roof it is the full thickness and as you work back it is router thiner to make up for the uneven surface.

    Channelling my T Coupe

Has any body out there got some good clean pic's of how they have channeled their T coupe over the rails and any comments on the Do's and Dont's.
Since most of us model T guys have this thread going I figured it might just be worth running with it rather than starting another thread up.
