Well putting the 32 sedan and "A-32" truck and need to get some hoses for the radiator to water pump, also from the water neck to upper radiator neck for a Small Block Chevy. Just a note this is my first hotrods with a chevy motor :D. My local parts house said no one can go back because of a accident .
    thanks John

For the lower I used a Gates 22314. I used this same hose on both my Model A and the 40, both using Hurst mounts. As you can see I cut it in two places and spliced it back together, it might not be as clean a set up as you would like but it doesnt leak.

Find a different parts store. All of the ones I go to will let me pick from their hose rack. Maybe it's cause I'm funding their pension plan:rolleyes:

Bend a coat hanger into the general shape of the hose you need and have the parts store find ya one....

Personally.....if a parts store won't let you look through their hoses, with them standing there with you....find a new store!

It's not just one parts store  Maybe if I get dressed up in a suit and shave and toss on a few Gold chains:D Naw LOL ...
The hose is a elbow but has two sizes and that's the problem, I made side mounts on the tudor but some kind of homemade on the truck but still would use the same lower and upper hoses.

I second that. Your money will spend just as good somewhere else. Most stores I go to are glad to let me go in the back to find what I need because most of them have no idea what to look for if it's not in the computer.

Just did a 265 in a 50 showbox, made the lower "hose" out of 1 3/4 exhaust tubing, bought the pre-bend piece from speedway has a 180 and a 90 degree bend , cut it up and welded together , makes a real clean installation.

  10. I've seen guys use copper water fittings, silver solder, and use short bulk straight hose. In some respects it can be crude looking.
It's always best to have a parts guy that's a motorhead with a usable brain.

  11. for the lower hose , take a look at Napa part # 7286. a couple inches off each end and it should fit perfect

on the upper , if you have an angled water neck , try Napa # 7209 . if you have a straight water neck , try Napa # 7688

I use a '55 Chevy top hose (using an 45 degree angled water neck) and a '68 Mustang lower hose (they both will need to be shortened). I can get you pictures and part numbers if the other guys suggestions don't work for you.

    Here's some part numbers:

    Top Hose: Dayco 70344
Bottom Hose: Dayco 70445 or Gates 20242

  14. Take a look at these for lowers. Gates-20957, 20475, 20046. I've used these in Deuces, 38 Chevys, etc. I don't know which is which, but I write the numbers down in a notebook when they work well, for future reference. Here's 2 more in my notes, 20542, and 20660. Again, they're all from similar situations to yours. It might give you a good start. Hopefully, you'll have a parts store that's well stocked and you can physically look at all these. Uppers tend to be less h***le

I spent days looking at the ceiling racks of hoses in every parts store that would let me in, trying to find a lower hose for my SBC to an unknown radiator. The hose had to twist in and down in a very short distance. Nothing fit-the original hose was part of something else I never did find. Finally, I broke down and bought a Cool-flex hose, which I had cut and fitted in five minutes. I left off the fuzzy chrome clamp covers-just used the chrome hose and the rubber fittings. It looks good and although expensive, was nowhere near what I am worth per hour and the time I sprent staring at the ceilings.

What SinisterCustom said -- make a pattern and take it in, look at what they have. A good parts store will appreciate your extra effort.

Thanks Guys :D got the hoses last night and put them on! Sweet one step closer. I hit a Auto Zone and most of the numbers weren't in stock but they did have the 68 mustang lower hose ( what I thought was cool about this hose it had a off set of 3/4 inch and perfect for a flathead) and the 67 corvette upper and ribbed for your pleasure:D well mine...............
    thanks John

  20. FYI , the Napa lower hose #7286 i had suggested is for a `68 mustang 289/302. good luck with your progect

Thanks 36 -3window for the help and luck on the project.
I have been going to NAPA for years and years but then they moved and now a new store. My NAPA is 3 times the cost of all the other parts stores. Plus I asked the guy why is it so high one time and told me "if I didn't like the price to go else were! WTF so I did.

I too used the Napa lower 7286 hose one my SBC to mustang radiator(thanks to 36-3 Window for that bit of info) I also learned that for the upper hose to simplify and give a cleaner look you can swap the SBC water neck (which either points to the drivers side or straight ahead) for one off of a straight 6 (Summit part number 84846) This will allow for simpler more direct hose for the upper which I haven't gotten to next. The pics kind of show what I mean. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

The snow must be really deep and it must be a real boring day to go to that much trouble to answer a post that has been dead and gone since July 12, 2008. That may set a new record for digging up dead and gone threads.

Well, the problem still exits so I don't mind a new update on the issue. We've got about 5"" of snow here in central PA but it's sloppy. FWIW, there are swivel necks made-chrome or not, that allow prteyy much any angle you need. Here is one form Speedway-
    http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Chevy-90-Degree-Pivoting-Aluminum-Water-Neck,7207.html

Fits all 55-86 V8 Chevys, uses 1.5" hoses.

Woohoo I got a record? I came across this thread and found it useful so figured I might have something to add of value. I've used the swivel neck before but wanted something more factory looking this time.

Here is something I never knew existed. Recently I was replacing hoses on my '64 Chevelle with a Chevy 350, March serpentine belt system, a swivel radiator neck from Summit, and a Ron Davis radiator. The existing hoses looked pretty ratty, but had no markings on them, so I was trying to figure out what to use. I noticed the radiator ports were in the same location as stock, so I figured this is gonna be easy, I'll just get stock hoses. When I went to install the lower hose, I found that the water pump inlet port was smaller than the hose! Seems that March, in using a reverse flow pump, elected to use an Edelbrock pump for '90 - '91 Corvettes, and they have a smaller inlet port. Went to 2 parts stores and was unable to find a lower hose with 1.75 port at radiator and 1.50 port on water pump. After hours of searching in the stores and online, I found these little guys on Dayco's website:
I purchased P/N 76950 reducer and BAM! I was good to go. And just to let you know, the guy who built this car used a hose with 1.75 at both ends and just clamped it on really tight. A failure waiting to happen.

A couple installation hints: Cut the reducer to be only as long as the inlet port on your water pump. You do not want the excess material to bend over and restrict coolant flow. Also, use a gel-type super glue to attached the sleeve to the inside of your radiator hose. Long time ago, I had Kool Flex hoses, with reducers, on a T-bucket and the upper hose let go and sprayed my wife and I pretty good. Super Glue put an end to that!

Hopes this helps somebody out there.

  28. Is there a source/part number for that cast angled water neck? just curious. Even though the thread is 8 years old, still good to have. The lower hose NAPA part # will help me out in the future.

Yes I got it from Summit Racing and it is part number 84846. It's a 60's Chevy L6 neck.
