So the sale that they have starts at something like 3:00 or 4:00 IN THE MORNING!!
Thats what time the owner lets some Aussies go in and get all the good stuff (a lot of boxes stacked 8ft high ,some boxes bought sight unseen) to ship away to Australia anyway. That sucks for the home grown local rodder who just wants to get a great deal on that part they really want or need. They have paint blems or small dents or chips... I get really pissed about this cause It just doesnt seem right...

 

Yea,that's from last year. About ten of us drove down there and when we got there,a guy told TetanusShot to park on the grass and waved me into the middle! SURE...no probablem!!! It was a great time. There were about 40 or so HAMBers there.

You can park outside! With everybody else,lol....If you don't get there early,you park down the street,across the street,illegally,where ever you can...It's always a zoo...

So by 9 AM all the good deals are gone for the locals who want to run the parts on their AMERICAN built Hot Rod right here in So Cal......... LAME!!!

 

That's not true. Last year there was a lot of stuff. The only reason those guys got such great deals is because they were there when the place opened.

 

There is still alot of stuff at that time but all the GOOD stuff is gone.

 

i remember the first year or 2 the swap was first come first serve, which was really cool cause i got their super early and scored a bunch of neat stuff. the following years they began to make everyone wait with the gate closed, but everyone at the gate could actually see some lucky people already roaming the swapmeet and making deals friends with mooneyes? i dunno? hopefully they have some neat stuff!

Yeah thats the way it should still be.
Those guys you saw were probably the Australians buying up boxes of cool stuff like gauges with lightly scratched lenses, valve and valley covers with small dings, and a ton of other cool crap.
They double or even triple their money on the stuff using Australian ebay.

 

Yes, that SUCKS. I got a few bitchen deals in the past. BUT, the past 2 years, I was early getting there, but still was recieved by mucho boxes with SOLD written on them from guys, obviously let in the "back door". Hey Chico, ain't OUR money "green" enough???? BTW, Robin, you ROCK!!!!

 

What the hell does them being Australian have to do with anything?! haha I'm sure my passport wouldn't assure me of early entry or any special treatment - if it's because they were friends with the Mooneyes crew, then they may as well have been from Jupiter for the difference it makes.

It doesnt really matter what country they are from, its just seems wrong to pre-sell and give first dibs on a ton of cool stuff to a foreigner whos going to ship it far away, and not giving the local hot rodders a chance to buy the good stuff and forcing him to wait and watch while said foreigner gets the goods.
I guess Mooneyes wants the deals gone before people come in so that they will pay FULL price for the stuff instead of getting it at a discount.
Its just regular money driven, business ethics... I guess.

 

Well, when we get there early, and have to wait to buy from the sale, and there's the majority of the items SOLD before I'm even let near the sale, to folks that got SPECIAL treatment.....what are we supposed to say? I've enjoyed having equal opportunity to buy parts at a savings for YEARS, to recently getting put aside. Besides, "I" said overseas folks, not Australians.
