I am looking for an American version of this door latch mechanism.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What do you mean by American version? You mean one with dimensions in USC?

This one is available in Germany for about 60 Euros each. I need 4 and I don't want to spend that much money if there is a cheaper local alternative. (Even if it is really of Chinese manufacture)

    The dimensions are 3.75" x 4" x 1" deep with a 7/8" flange.

  4. it looks like the type of latch used on 70's-80's Bread truck type vans. I would find a Weber's or Frito-lay fleet shop in your area and ask.

They might have them on the shelf, and sell them to you for alot less than 60 Euros.

Looking at the website listed with that picture, it looks to me that they are a distributor and not a manufacturer. Although I could be wrong because my German isn't all that great. You could try contacting them and ask them who the manufacturer of the latch is. Or, if they are a manufacturer, ask them if they have a distributor in the U.S.

If you do find where you can get them in the U.S., be sure to post a link as they look like pretty nice pieces.

    Good luck. :)

What do you plan to use them in? Looks like a stock Model T Ford lock to me. The Model A locks are repoped and could be modified to fit I believe.

That looks like it will do the trick just fine.

I am using them in my truck project.

I will be building the doors from scratch so I am going to have to figure out how to make the windows and hinges too.

My website has more pictures here:

What is the truck and body there? Looks like an escapee from an Indiana Jones movie!

This is a WWII German Radio truck. It is a Kfz. 61. It could be made by Krupp, Henschel, Büssing-NAG, or Magrius.

It is the radio version of the truck the Indiana Jones movie based their on.
