Y block does not have horizontal mounted valve covers, they mount at an angle like all the other V8's.

Yeah but it looks to me that the black covers are on top of some blue covers.

It's a Y-block.....the oil filter is on the driver's side (nailheads were on the p***enger). That plus the whole top-end definitely isn't Buick.

On Dirty31's thread where he is asking for Offy carb spacers Lost Angel has posted a pic of his nailhead with Weiand valve covers and the letters are right way up! Maybe the Mexican patternmaker didn't realise that there was a right and a wrong way for the lettering?

I bought a set of repo Weiand plug covers off eBay recently. Sure hope the letters are right way up cos I won't be able to do much when they get over here.

It's my 292 Y-Block with my buddies nailhead valve covers just sitting on the Ford covers. I thought it would be a funny picture...hahaha, sorry I just had to do it. ;)

maybe the valve covers are for a different motor? i think ford y blocks had the 2 bolts like that also?? early olds too??? also, i think early year 1949 cadillac motors had 2 bolt covers also.

only reason i ask is because i got my "cadillac" ufab intake it didnt fit until i changed the bolt holes, and i found out it was actually olds. maybe just maybe those werent for a nailhead at all.

Recently I saw a complete set of Weiand dress up on a 401 with six deuces. Valley cover included, it was REALLY sharp! Go ahead and run the valve covers! They're still Weiands! I wish I had a set for my 401!

.............still searchin' for that rustrod of my dreams.

I have a set of Weiand v/c s in the garage. I'll try to remember to look at them and compare them to the pic. I think the pic looks right-the 'short' side goes towards the intake.
