Anything over four pounds totally screwws up my trips, (2GC Rochesters on an SBC, Offy intake. This is a pretty serious Chevy too. I,ve never had fuel starvation problems even in the quarter. Make sure you gauge pressure at the carb level.
Yea use a regulator and go for @ 4-4.5 lbs. They will likely leak above 5 lbs. At 5.5 lbs, the floats were pushed up enough to cause a rich idle, I had to "clean it out" like a race car after sitting at a red light.
I installed a Holley 12-804 regulator and run the factory setpoint of 2.7 psi on my trips and I have plenty of fuel when it's needed.
I've had a hell of a lot of 2GCs over the years on mechanical and electric pumps and never had a regulator of any kind. I can't be that lucky.
I was thinking about the same number. I have put those clicker regulators on and just turned them down to see where an engine would starve at. I actually ran my 300-6 F250 at about 1.7 because it ran and gave me no problems there.
Not to steal the thread, but I'm running a single 2g on a flattie. Where should I set my regulator at?
4 - 6 PSi should be fine. I say start at 4 PSI and play with it. The goal is to get only as much fuel as you need at speed. ~Jason
