Any pics of 55-57 birds with custom tire and rim combos. I did a search, didnt find much. I just inhearited a goldenrod yellow 55 bird from my dad--r.i.p.-- and dont know what to do with it. Cant really sell it,its a body off resto, so dont want to do much more than tires and rims, at least not now.Any ideas, Thanks.

My Dad also had a Goldenrod 55 in Oklahoma. 3 sp w OD. Resto.
IMHO I like the yellow steelies too great with stock ford caps and blackwalls, also if it's restored - leave it and enjoy and do another candidate if you want a hot rod, that one's worth more like it is-the goldenrod bird in 55 is the least common.
My 55 bird is a little hot rod but it would never qualify for a frame off resto.
    Where in OK, just curious.

  7. my 55 with Salt Flat Specials, and this cool custom 55 with chrome reversed, spider caps and wide whites

Richard, I've always liked your 55 with the salt flats. Often think of doing mine with the salt flats / blasted finish. I just can't seem to part with my old 14" mags, bought 'em in 1967 with a set of Goodyear polyglas raised wht letters. All balanced and installed for 150! I had to really save up my money, from the full service Texaco I worked at. Premium was 39 cents.
It's really harder now to find a decent radial tire at a 14" size that looks right on them now, so 15 or so maybe in order. Al

I'll check with him, he's 86 so his memory is getting realy bad.
And speaking of memory I did remember where his ended up and it wasn't your dad it was ken THomas.
Did your Dad have anything to do with a nursing home near I-44 and Lewis ave? I used to see a nice one sitting there once in while.

That was it. He owned that nursing home and three others. He also had a grey ''e'' bird, guess my step brother got that one.

I talked to you at the stray kat 500, I have the blue 62 bird with white top. My dad lived on south braden ave right around the borderline of Tulsa and Jenks. I never got to drive it,only rode in it once,so I get the first drive:D

Ok, yep my Dad and yours did meet. I remember him talking about it.
If that car is as nice as I remember it, well you've got a good one.
I'm no purist but I wouldn't hotrod that one, but it should give you leverage to get another of your choice if you wanted. Let me know if you want to sell.? I don't know just asking.

  17. Hey Al, I think your car looks perfect with the Torgue Thrusts you've got on it now !

When I was coming thru Tulsa on the Power Tour in'04 and met you I was running these Cobra R's

I put the Salt Flats on it in '06

Hey Weez, I'm with you, the Copper '55 custom is a kick *** ride !!

I love 55-56 (not 57) Birds. I wanted on for years. Then my father got one and I had to driv eit one day. I was so disappointed. I could barely fit inside of it. Put the seat all the way back and barely got my legs under/aroundthe ginat steering wheel. Had it been a stick shift I would not have been able to drive it. I needed a normal steering wheel and at least 2-3 more inches of seat travel.

    Gorgeous cars though.

4 - 15x6 Salt flat wheels (the non polished ones) with appropriate tires would look awesome. If their is a HAMB alliance vendor that deals in American Racing go to them first, but if not go to wheelsforless.com. I bought the Salt Flats on my non-HAMB car from them. Good price fast friendly service.

    Coker recommends 205/75R15's.

FWIW; I like the WW/chromies/spider-caps combo, and '55 Merc taillights.
(Cheater slicks and Cut-out plugs would seal the deal.;))

Thats one thing I'm worried about. I'm skinny but I'm 6'2'' tall, hope they make a smaller wheel. I like the salt flat wheels, but I'm kinda looking at Radiers as another option. Thanks for all the replys.
