They look like they are about to have a blast. In the end, that's what it's all about. Man, how I would like to be along for that ride.

hey forty, how's the pin on that grenade you're holding in your mouth? :p

my tudor is going to be in primer so that i can drive it while i finish the body work and i'll paint it next year. hot rods usually happen in stages man. seriously, chill the **** out man. there aren't many rat rods around here because many of us do our best to keep them away. what you're seeing asround here is an in-progress-traditional-hot-rod. if you can't tell the difference, go away. btw, looks like the one in your avatar is in black primer...

    Yeah, this thread is Gaaaaaaaaayyyy!

  5. Please tell ALL of the hot rod world how YOU dictate how WE should build them???? I thought building rides was about individuality???? If it isn't, then I need to go over to muscle cars, because at least restoring something is written how you are suppossed to do it.

Let it sit another year while you build it? Screw that. Another year you could have enjoyed burning fuel through it, rather then showing friends "just pics". Make it safe, then drive it or paint it, but if it's YOUR car,,,,,YOU DECIDE. I'm more tired of "flat black" then rust.

Seems that everyone hates rat rods. I'm not sticking up for anybody, but what exactly is the definition of a rat rod? I agree a car should be safe, but black primer makes it a rat rod? By the way, an unmolested car with some rust showing through does not look bad. It shows that it has survived all these years.

I was always under the impression that true Hot Rodding was a way an individual can express himself. So if you want to build a car where the roof is only 25 inches off the ground, more power to ya. Personally, I think some of these extreme chops and channels are kind of cool.

What scares me is the poor craftsmanship that goes into a lot of these cars. I always like to check out the Rat's at every show I attend. But it's getting harder to do. Whenever I take a closer look, I cringe with fear for the life of the poor ******* that drives the thing. Where has the pride in workmanship gone? Just because you are working out of your garage with limited resources doesn't mean you need to fab like a 10 year old.

    My two pennies.

Exactly! I've seen what were pretty nice-looking cars from a distance, turn out to be rolling disaster areas - a wreck waiting for the cops! Conversely, I've seen cars that really needed help in the overall appearance department, really shine in the ch***is work, the engine detail, or the interior scheme. Again, safety and safety are the two most important things in building any car - cosmetics are exactly that!

Ya. Clean it up and paint it. Then I could be one of "those guys" that spend all day saturday polishing my preaty paint and armor alling my tires. Then take it downtown so ***holes who couldn't tell a 9/16 from a 1/2in wrench can pick it apart. People can pick apart my original paint car all they want, cuz I don't give a rat's *** what you or anyone else think of it.
    Ha!!
    Felt good saying that...
