Maybe a stupid question but we want to use screw on moon discs on our front wheels. How do you mount them with wheel weights on the rim? If you remove them how do you balance your wheels?
Usually a dynamic balance-weight only on the inside rim lip- is not as accurate and could vibrate. You can still static balance the wheels, use the weights on the edge of the rim on the backside and also use the stick on weight on the inside the wheel towards the center of the wheel. Heck they even have weights that go inside and mount on the tire now. A great choice for the front of an open wheeled car so you don't see any weights.
I agree with 49Ratfink , I hate seeing weights on any wheel so i make sure the inside of the wheel is spotless when i go to fit new tyres and use stick on mag weights . And never had a problem getting a good balance.
Caddy weights, cadillac wheels up until 70's had special weights to clear the hubcap, the weight had a longer arm on it to go down inside the wheel lip . I'm telling my age now ain't I
Any shop can mount weights on the reverse side of the rim(The inside,or back if you will) as long as there is a lip to mount them to..If they tell you they can't,they are just being lazy..Also,the stick on wheel weights are a great idea, and I have never heard any problems of them coming off...So both are a choice..
