So for my 100th post i figured I should ask some opinions of what I'm thinking about doing.

I would like to see if the tail light s from a '59 impala will fit vertically on tha back of my '65 c10. I think it would look bitchin but I think they might be too long. What da you think?

  2. Could be cool, but I think you're right...a bit wide. You'd have to fab a panel to accomodate accordingly.

Not as HAMB friendly, but some guys have taken late model Eldorado tail lights and gotten them to fit in PUs with some success.

Ya the caddy tail lights are bit over done and kinda mini-truckish.

  4. I vote against it. the lines of the lights dont fit the flow of the truck in my opinion. i bet you could do some metal work and frenching and throw something cool in there though. prob a smaller sized light than the '59s.

Would you be putting them in pointy end up or down, on second thought it doesn't matter, I wouldn't do it at all.

  7. Yeah, the '59 taillights are a lot bigger than you think. The C10 doesn't have a whole lot of room in the taillight area.

id say no. unless you paint it neon blue and put some air bags and 22's on it, son.

  9. Well, you've asked for it...and I wouldn't do it either....but then its your truck. Maybe someone could do a quick photoshop for you, pointy part upwards and another one downwards.

Then I agree with Camel City Skull, you'd have to make them flow with the body sides.

Good luck, what ever you decide to do....maybe another set up is out there, just waiting to be "molded in".

I would really like to put something in there with a nice long shape. But yeah i have to agree they really have to follow the body lines and shape of the truck.

Like my father always told me....

"If you have nothing nice to say they don't say anything at all"

    Thus I will say nothing...........................

    Think you get the picture

Truk body is completely square, '59 taillights are pointy and triangular shaped...you're mixing to much stuff there and it won't work...just becuz you can doesn't necessarily mean you should...NO...no, no, no...!!!!

Find some small (or long) lenses, put 'em a the bottom of the pan...or use some long upright late model Caddy lights and put them where the original taillights are...

Doing "kustom" work is making things look like they belong there...

Yo Dawg maybe you can put them in your roll pan, and mold the license plate at a 45 degree angle inside the tailgate so people can see them when you "rail" it bro!.......

My opinion, dont do it, there are soo many other options you have, I feel the "truck those taillights belong on is a 59 ElCam.

Just cuz I thought about doesn't mean I will. But I do want something more interesting than the regular caddy long and narrow lenses that every mini trucker has in his s-10

No your not the only one, I have never seen a '60~'66 Chev truck with a good taillight change.

When I did my '61 I removed the Aluminum Trim Bucket & just reinstalled the lens, Looks like the are Frenched with a Nice Roll from the flat of the bed into the bucket.

I'd like to see somebody photoshop this, (who unlike me, actually knows what photoshop is). I envision the sharp teardrop point at the top. Waddya say?

1970 Pontiac Bonneville lights embody the best features of both the
Chevy and the Caddy lenses. They come recessed in a panel (making them naturals for frenching) and are nicely shaped for the lines of your truck. Check this link, and tell me "No":

Perhaps they could even be cut down to the outer three segments, for vertical mounting?

    Go for it.

I personally don't think I wouldlike it.. but if you have the skiils to do it AND make it look presentable.... more power to you.

What's the worst that will happen? If it looks like shit, 99% of all the people on here will never see the results in person. If it looks great you can do a tech thread and have 99% ofthe folks on here give you a high-five.

I'm with Fencepost and DeSoto, the stock tail lights look good to me. I also ditched the bezels and just went with the lens, gives it a nice clean look.

  26. NICE truck.

I was going to say a buddy here in town ditched his bezels on his 65 long fleet and got a nice clean (almost frenched) look off the stock lenses.

Have fun doing whatever and shoot us some pics.

I've never liked heavily fabricated 60's chevys. just doesnt look right. Id say just drop it, and drive it.

I vote for the stock tail lights. When they built these trucks they got it right.
