OK that gives me hope... but.... very strangely those numbers are stamped in reverse on my door jamb like they use to be on the door and through the years they ended up stamp where they are. i had to get the paint off very softly to not damage them but they are highly visible.....VERY WEIRD!!!!! THANX
That's not a truck VIN per this book, should be #**X#### (X's are letters, # for numbers). First number (can be two numbers) for build plant, second and third characters indicate model, fourth is the month of ***embly, the rest is the sequential production number. Cars were basically the same thing. It could be you're missing the first three characters of the serial number, the H could mean a month and the rest be the sequential number. Chances are for registration purposes it will work just fine, though.
WELL ONE THING I FORGOT GUYS ITS A 2 DR SEDAN AND FROM WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TELLING ME I'LL JUST GO TO AAA AND HOPEFULLY IT'LL BE FINE! THANX
From my Hollander's Interchange manual: 1951 Chevy p***enger car serial numbers ran from- JJ-1001 and up (Special Styleline & Fleetline) JK-1001 and up (Deluxe Styleline & Fleetline)
MAYBE MY CHEVY IS A 52' ????? I DONT KNOW 'CAUSE WHEN I GOT IT IT WAS A HACKED PIECE OF ****!!! WITH NO DO***ENTATION.....
Hi there: Since you guys seem to have access to some books that I don't, I have a 51 Chevy 2-dr hardtop, VIN# is 6KJA14604. Only problem is that--somewhere along the way--the registration says 1952. I don't know whether it stems from a typo once at DMV or what. Can anyone out there confirm just exactly what this VIN is supposed to decode to and what source you are using? Thanks for the help.
