July 19th in Sabin,mn at interstate dragways. The little flyer I got at the 50's says 3rd annual. anybody gone? who's going? I was thinking of running up on friday morning and camping if anybody wants to cruise up that way.
If i remember right it was around 80... Wowcars can probably tell you the real number, but it was between 80 and 100.. it was a great time.
Last year we had a total of 85 actually racing and more just doing the show and shine. Its a great number because you can run as many times as you want throughout the day. It is a run whacha brung event as long as it passes the minimal tech. (Seat belt, overflow, battery holddown.) Heres the color flyer for everyone. http://www.suedescarclub.com/pn/modules/PNphpBB2/files/08hrdlegal.pdf Towaholic, did you pull that flyer off my Stude?! I couldnt believe how many people were grabbing them as I drove around!
No it was thrown in both my cars, and a couple guys from out that way were parked by me told me it's a pretty cool deal!
Mrs Jalopy and I are planning on going up a specatators. Ya want to caravan up? If going up for the day the specatators types, could all pile in my Surburban and we could split the gas. jim h
it should be a blast. it was last year <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YeVTLFPpzQY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YeVTLFPpzQY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Really, ANYTHING that will catch coolant. I've passed the last couple of years with a plastic bottled water bottle. Oh, and if you leave by 6am, you will get to the track before ANYONE else! We wont even get access til mid afternoon. There is camping available Fri and Sat included in the entry fee.
Ok, is there any yards up that way that are a must see? Just wanna take it easy on friday with my Wife. we plan on camping friday night.
The weather forecast for tomorrow looks pretty rainy. What are the local forecasters saying? How scattered are "scattered thunderstorm" in your part of the country? Is it worth taking a chance on a 250 mile trip? thanks, Bob
From what I have heard the chance of rain is 25% and south of the interstate, but its tough to predict where it will hit. Hopefully there will be no rain, if there is some in the morning it shouldn't take long for the track to dry. Its a tough gamble when you have to drive that distance. Good luck I think there is a phone number on the poster you could call that in the morning to see whats going on with the race.
Thanks to everyone who came out. the weather was a bit rough in the morning, but they let the cars run until everyone had gone as many times as they wanted
Suedes Guys, Thanks for providing a great opportunity to get as many runs in as everyone wanted. I'm surprised a lot more racers don't show up for this event. Although there was enough cars to keep the action going and make it interesting to watch. It was well worth the 4 1/2 hour trip with my Crosley on the tow bar. Bob
yeah that stude at first i thought it might have been a bantam or the like. but i will be rethinking four doors from now on
