1968 Chevy Biscayne. Factory 427/425, 4 speed, 4.10 gears. I was 2nd owner, in the AIr Force in Omaha in 1971. Was my daily driver. Lots of fun for a kid that looked like he was 16 and driving dad's fleet car. :)

  11. Far as rare goes, I owned a '69 Dodge Dart GTS 440 (yeah, it's not pre-'64, so?) that was one of 635 440 Darts that Dodge built that year. Disc brakes were not an option on these, yet mine came with front discs, and I verified this with the original owner in Salt Lake City...so it is the only known, verified 440 Dart with discs.

In the mid '70s, when gas was a whopping 64 cents a gallon, I owned a '66 Bonneville convertible with a 389, air, AND Tri-Power! Yes, I know the air/Tri-Power combo was not available on the GTO's and such, but it was on the Bonnies. Mine was one of only 13 so equipped. Traded a '68 Chevy 327 fastback straight up for it in 1976.

Currently own this 1965 Starfire convertible:

A little over 2,200 Starfire convertibles were made in '65 I am told mine is 1 of 8 with the factory M20 4spd option.

    '67 Olds 442 Convertible. One of 1807.

  14. Another cool and rare car I had was an export six-passenger '67 Belvedere I wagon. It was one of three sent to a hearse conversion company in Brussels, Belgium new. Mine is one of two bought new by brothers who were undertakers in Antwerp. The third went to a funeral home in Sweden. It was a 225, 3-on-the-tree, heater, clock, HD suspension, 3.55 8-3/4" SureGrip rear, 11" HD brakes all around, HEMI torsion bars and rear springs, front sway bar, and carpeting. It also had a 200 km/h metric speedo in it. This was also a radio-delete car. It was black with two-tone blue interior. I bought the car in Belgium, and drove it around in Germany until I shipped it back to the US through Houston in 1992. Drove it back to OKC from there. I then converted the car to a 360 and automatic, with power steering and power disc brakes. I traded it in 1997 on a paint job on my '67 GMC Suburban.

One of three is pretty rare.

  15. I've owned several Buick Gran Sports, a couple of 70's, but the rarest was a 1971 GS Stage 1 that was loaded with options. (can't find any pics).
I still have a soft spot for those old GS's.

... no worries, my feeling weren't hurt .. and I wasn't trying to insult you ... there's absolutely nothing wrong with a '64 Galaxie 500 XL ... btw, I noticed that there is a "H.A.M.B Ford Galaxie Owners" social group ... you might to check it out HERE

    Agreed ... that's why I asked if it was directed at me (Hemi32) {vice a general statement about this thread}

... again, welcome to the H.A.M.B.

I had 2 Big Block Camaros. A L78 (my brother got that one), and a BB 1968 that had a funny looking fiberglass hood that looked like a Corvette 427 scoop, but was minus the spear. I never saw another hood like it, bolted to the hinges and latched like a stock one. Well I did just see one, it was on the Little Hoss 302 Race Camaro from LaHarpe Illinois. May be the car was rare, or at least the hood may have been. We parted it out..............Some guy in Norwalk Ohio is racing it at the drag strip there.
Car had a 4 speed muncie, 12 bolt 3.73; Power Steering and Power Dics Brakes, no other options, just a plain ol SS. Am Radio.

    Be nice Doug.

I thought my 4spd Starfire was rare, at the Oldsmobile National meet this past weekend in Dearborn sat a 1964 F85 4dr sedan with the B09 option (442). The car was real nice it had a bench seat with a curved 4spd shifter handle. Radio delete as well

How cool would it be to have a 4dr sedan 442, talk about the factory sleeper.

i had a '74 opel wagon. i could be off on the year. it was about 23 years ago.
i sometimes see opel GTs and mantas, but not wagons.
that wagon took a lickin' and kept on tickin'
i wish i had pix, and i wish i hadnt given it away.

  25. Well I have a 1930 Model A business coupe now but my grandpa had (2) 1961 Checker Station wagons. 1 nice runner the other a solid parts car and I have never seen another one. He sold em back in 2003 without telling any of the immediate family for $1500 for both. He is 89 and lived during the depression so his mantra was he didn't need them anymore he got his use outta them (his driver's license finally got pulled that year for doing 55 on an Arizona freeway). man was I pissed being only 17 and I woulda rolled that old Checker to high school no matter what smart-ass remarks were made. You should hear him talk about the good ol' days.

I guess this is rare, at least in the States. It's a '48 Morris Van that I bought out of a Canadian wrecking yard in '65 and built into a hot rod. New 271HP 289 Ford/C4/narrowed olds. Lots of fun!:)
