I'm building a T roadster pickup with a 305c.i. nothing special just a cam and carburetor using a blazer rear end with 3:73. Would it be ok to use the rear wishbones off a 38 ford or would they be too lite I'm not sure because the diameter is considerably smaller than front wishbones. The rear suspension consists of transverse leaf shocks and the wishbones to locate the rear end. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I would not use those light bones for torque contral of the rear. They will fold up. I would use parallel leaf springs. This will hopefully eleminate welding on that housing. The gears do not easily come out and the slag from welding is hard to clean out.

Are you gonna run a torque are from rear to the trans crossmember ! That would take the strain off of wishbones !

  4. With an open drive rear end you will need to run 35-36 Radius Rods if that is the look you are aiming for. In addition you will need something in line of a torque arm with running anything more than a banger or mild flathead. It doesn't hurt to re-inforce the rods as well.

i thought about running a piece of 3/8 steel pipe to reinforce them but i just bought another 38 frame and was thinking about using the front wishbones on the rear thanks for all the help. if any one needs some 38 parts i have four cable brake baking plates, two rear ends, front axle and spindles, and some wide 5's if interested pm me and make an offer.
