Let me say I haven't cut a 54's front coils. I have cut severals set of GM full size trucks, s-10s, G body, and 1 Camaro. It will bring the front end down. Let me through out some cautions. First this will add stress to the rest of the front end parts make sure they are up to the challenge. Second shocks need to be replaced with shorter units. When cutting heat is the enemy use a saw of some sort (portaband works great). Finally go a little at a time (half coil) this way you don't go beyond what can be compensated for in alignment. If you don't understand alignment I suggest getting someone local to help walk you through the process.

yes it works. 1.5 coils usually does it, I did 2 full coils up front, posies and blocks in the back. its really simple. I have the part numbers for shorter shocks listed on here in an old post.

Yeah. My 53 cas cut coils and it rides like shit!! Spend the extra money and buy some lowering springs or get some shorter shocks like 53sled said.
