I have a 1950 Chevy Truck with the original inline 6. I haven't started it so I don't know if it will. My buddy gave me a four bolt 350 that needs to rebuilt from what I saw on it looks like it just needs a manifold and carb and a complete tune up. So the question is should I waste the time and rebuild it or just same some $$$ and buy a brand new crate turn key engine

if your buddy told you it need to be rebuilt or if you have doubts about it, then rebuild it. If you pull it down and things seem ok then you're only out gaskets and time. I'd at least pull it apart to check it over. If you don't have the time, skills, place or equipment needed to do a rebuild then buy a crate and be done with it. imo

to rebuild or buy new is a choice only you can make. i like rebuilding engines myself , so i always do for my stuff....but the chevy 350 260 HP basic crate motor is hard to beat at about $1500. it will probably cost as much to rebuild the 350 your buddy gave you , with machine work and parts
