its been awhile since my last update.

progress was interrupted for a few weeks..

Tokyo and I went to a local show one of the days I was to work on the wagon, then I lost 2 other days attending a show in Vermont..

Since my last update, I rebuilt the roof with new side rails..

after the fit was OK on the car.. I fit the rails and the roof together..
I must have had the side rails on and off the car at least 50 times.. (each!)

the final roof assembly was done in another work bay, and then prepared for the next mornings workout..

the next morning 3 of us lifted the entire roof assembly up and installed it in about 10 minutes flat.

I really didnt think the reassembly would go as well as it did and I was actually questioning IF i should disassemble the entire roof and rebuild it on the car piece by piece.. but we were worried about the original finish on the roof slats, so we kept it largely together.

when the header slipped into the cowl.. and we lowered the rear of the roof down.. I knew that I had done everything right..

the driver side rear quarter gave me fits, until I came up with a super secret solution to pulling the side rails and roof rails together..

    till It looked like this:

I have one more week (3 more days) to work on this project.. before I am back to teaching full time..

look for one more post about "body work"

  4. Looks good, does it make you more or less motivated to get the Benz out of the garage and get the olds going?

    Hey,

Look's great, a great way to spend your summer vacation time!

Are the Cant rails made of one solid piece or glue-ups of ash or
    maple?

looks great, The seams look nice and tight. Do you finish the wood before final assem. due to the wood expanding from the finishes? or am I just clueless?:D

they are glued up.. as is the front piece of the door, which I need to finish repairing tomorrow.
I was suprized how the front part of the door went together. (pics of that later)

we sorta "cut it in" the "show" pieces will need stained to match, but the hidden surfaces are sealed..

this took the place of the benz the last few, now I've had my break and can get back on it strong..

although my 40 wagon progress is moving forward as well
