Since I got my 36 last year, some little things had changed.
In the meanwhile we lowered the headlights to give it a little 40´s kustom look. We got rid of the spare, and mounted a nice licenseplate light instead. We converted the electrical system to 12 volts(don´t worry guys I still use a generator).
The rearend was lowered by traditonal long shackles, of course we also mounted a panhardbar from a 41 Lincoln(Thanks Hotrodmickey).

I also have to shorten the rear bumperbrackets.
To put a crown on top of all this I will mount a pair of wonderful 1939 Lincoln Taillights instead of the original "slugeyes"-lights.

My flathead will also get a nice pair of 97´s on a dual intake and of course dual exhaust.

We don´t have much 40´s style taildraggers here in germany. And especially as a woman it fills me with pride to drive this car:)

that´s funny, when I took the picture I told Steffi the skirts look like photoshop. Of course they´re real. I don´t know why it looks like that.

The sun lightened street reflects in the fender skirt which makes it appear lighter and in another color than the 1/4 panel. Same thing happens at the passenger door. Just light no photoshop :)

Just wanted to show you my next little step to "taildragger-heaven";)
We kustomized some old pontiac sombreros by putting them on the 16 inch beautyrims and added some nice chrome bullets.
Next step would be lowering the front end by reversed eyes of the leafspring.
Hope that my 39 Lincoln Taillights will soon arrive.
More updates soon!

Seems you have an understanding TÜV guy over there, to let you keep the H plate! Or do they just not have any idea what they are looking at on such an old car? How far can you go with the modifications I wonder?

And thats a really cool looking `36 BTW. I love those things!

24. Beautiful car, looks like the spirit of Harry Westergard is alive & well in Deutchland. Did you source the car over there or from the US? Keep us posted on your continuing progress.

I found the car in stock condition in Austin, Texas. After a long search for a good 5wd.

Thank you guys for the nice comments. I´ll keep you updated!

Sorry, if I give the wrong impression, it was not meant as criticism. I only said it because they can be right bastards about this stuff - at least around here (Stuttgart). Seems they don´t want to let me change anything with the H plate.

You and I both know that your changes are all "zeitgenossiche"( in the period) but I was more wondering if you had to prove that to the TÜV with old pictures, or if they were they OK about it all?

hey, it´s o.k.
I didn´t have to show pics but I know there are some real asses at the tuv inspections here in the Munich area also.
Some guy told me to shave off the hood emblem on my ex 50 Merc because it could harm passengers at an accident. I shaved all the emblems and trims anyway.:)
Then you have the same guys saying it´s not original anymore....
Anyway, most of them don´t know anything about traditional hotrods or Kustoms, so we don´t have that much problems. We just tell them it´s all original and authentic.
