Hey guys heres a little story of the Green Bean. I took her out last night. NO rain for the first time in weeks. I picked up my buddy Bob to I guess show her off a little. We to a few runs at about 70-75 down the main streets. Showing him how well it shifted and pulls on hard accelerations....well after all this we pull up to a stop sign. And in the famous last words I said "HEY WATCH THIS"......hahahahah I started power braking to smoke the tires and make em squirm [IMG].....Then out of know where the tourque side motor mount broke in half and slammed the motor to right and lifted the left tire off the ground [IMG]...I let off the gas we looked at each other and laughed [IMG] then I pulled away at a slow pace and we cruised back to his shop for a cold one!!!
hahahhh and to add to it all I blew apart another fan blade....man I love this Rod!!
Im shopping for a Heavy duty mount as we speak or even a solid style.
Hope you enjoyed the story. I know I did [IMG]

    Fuck!
I thought the mounts looked a little spindly, I reckon if you box the bitches up they'll be fine.
If you're not breaking shit, you're not really having fun.

    So watcha doin' tonight?

    We're playing at Will's.

Rob had solid mounts on "the most hated hot rod in the known universe" and it didn't vibrate too bad.
Come to think of it, Rob made the mounts on the GB, I reckon he thought he was only gonna sell his frames to nice Street Rodders instead of hell bent hoodlums.
You've gotta be happy that known of your welds broke, right Mike?
    Be proud, son.

  13. Hey Nads, it wasn't the frame mounts, it was the rubber mounts on the engine, just wanted to clear that up.

Hey ROB your frame held up TITS!!!! man...it was some cheap white box motor mount thats been on a shelf for years!!!!
the rubber must have seperated over time and FLOP!!

If any of you guys need a Bad ass T frame the polecat above builds the BEST!!!

  15. Why not copy the design of the 48 Ford style rubber biscuit mounts?
These have been used in hot rods for many a year and no problems.
They're the same style mount Hurst used/copied for their famous engine swap motor mounts.

Performance engines need more than a glued/bonded rubber bit to resist torque.
The through-bolt design of the Ford mounts works well and they're easy to set up to alleviate vibration.

If you want to stay with the style motor mounts you have, make an adjustable length torque rod and add that to the motor mount mix.
That would be the easiest way out. [IMG]

Sorry Rob, I didn't get the gist of the problem.
I'm sorry I doubted your welding skills.
Man I feel like shit now, you can slap me with a cream pie when you see me at Webster next time.

    I feel bad bro'.

  20. Mike -ya need a set of '70 -72 Chevelle 350"mount cushions-they bolt up to your block same and to your stands and have a "T" bar-safety incorporated in them instead of just glued rubber!
They cost me 14 dollars a [SET] here at O'Reilly auto parts.
PUT EM IN IN A SET AS THE OTHER OLD ONE WILL GO OUT IN REVERSE....PULLING THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN WHEN IT DOES....!!
GM ISSUED A SET OF "SAFETY CABLES" IN '69 TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS POOR GLUED ONLY DESIGN ......
