No big deal but I'm off work and busted up and waiting to pick up our "new" wagon AND going stir crazy! I ordered new seat belts and when they came, they were nice but the plain chrome buckles looked stark. I ordered a couple Impala logo hat pins @ $3.99 each, cut the pin off the back and used Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy and it really dressed them up.... You could do this with any logo. (or, you could just leave them plain!)
Very nice! I had the exact same idea (well, not an Impala) that I will be applying to my 48... if I ever get to it.
i like it but if you have small kids they could eventually fall off or be removed and swallowed .. just a thought..
Someday, I will be at the point in my latest project that I'll be mulling over how to brighten up my seatbelts .................... and then I'll realize I fell asleep under the car again.
...or keep the little crumb ******ers outta your ride. (you can tell I don't have any, either. ) Way to get creative, Pat. Quick and cheap.
have the overprotective parents finally reached hot rods. I mean, cmon. I spent the first 18 years of my life bouncing around in the back of a 36 chevy with NO seatbelts! I rode a bike WITHOUT A HELMET OR PADS,I didn't carry around a bottle of hand sanitizer, and I got all the way to 30 so far. I do agree with having seatbelts in cars for safety, but wouldn't give a second thought to the small logos being eaten by small kids. I can't honestly remember how many legos I accidently swallowed as a kid. So, get em out of the bubble and let em have fun. Eating Impala logos every now and then might just build some caracter.
your a ****in tard dude , would you really condone taking a chance with a kid? i grew up with all of your post as well and im still here but WTF ? thats the ****ing stupidest **** someone could say , are you suggesting our children be subjected to the ****in darwin awards??
Oh,no.That will never do. Individual character, imagination and creativity, are to be discouraged at all times;to prepare them for life in "The Real World".
Kenny, He said he agreed with having the seatbelts in there for the kids BUT he was mocking the overbearing-ness of not letting them eat the emblem, which could get expensive depending on how tasty they are. Calm down. He said buckle them in. No reason to start a ******* match over it.
i know what he said , but for $3.99 in not taking a chance on none of my brats chocking or worse no matter how it was done when we were kids im not gonna risk their lives because of some dipstick's opinion..
In Sweden (actually in the whole European union) it's illegal to retrofit belts in an old cars, unless it has original mountng points. The reason for this is that if you mount the belts yourself you, dont know if they work properly or not. I.E. you mount your belts in the frame and if you collide your body moves forward on the frame four or five inches, splitting the kids in two, or give them internal injuries. Or as seen you mount the belts in the board of the rearwindow shelf! If you want SAFE, get a new car!
There's no need to even argue about this. There are two types of people, those with kids (I have 4) and those without. Each set has its own at***udes about what kids should and shouldn't be exposed to. It takes about 9 months to change this at***ude over from one side to the other. Only deadbeat fathers or mothers can resist the change. Oh! nice job on the seatbelts. Really sets things off.
Jewelers can engrave logos on metal things, and the laser engraving industry can put a picture of anything on an object.
The vehicle originally came with two sets of belts in the front and three sets in the back. The front pair were light turquoise and stained so since I was installing new, black carpets, I also decided to change out the front belts. Although it is a good point about the crumb ******ers gnawing on the belts, it isn't an issue in MY vehicle. I am sorry that this simple **** has ignited such controversy.
If you don't give'em the Impala pins to chew on, they're just gonna find Honda pins in the gutter and eat those. It is important to expose your kids to RIGHT choices in life.
Silver solder those ****ers on, and even the most bad*** kid won't be able to get 'em off. They'll have to choke down the whole buckle after they've gnawed through the webbing.
You think you have potential problems with them chewing on belt buckles...wait till they figure out the cigarette lighter! In all honesty...any child so young that they would be likely to gnaw on a buckle, SHOULD be strapped firmly into a car seat that is being held by that very same buckle. Toddlers don't sit directly on the vehicle seat...and thus shouldn't be anywhere near the glued on emblem in the first place. Toddlers also should never be left alone to roam around the car on their own...ESPECIALLY an old car! Things much worse than swallowing a buckle emblem are likely to occur!!!
I don't know, lay it face down on a pad of some sort so the face doesn't chip and whack it with a hammer and it should bend, just pretend it's the last nail in a woodworking project and you'll bend them all on the first try. If that doesn't work, pretend they're like the kids and hit them harder the next time....
