It's pretty cool because this is actually the FIRST pre-1955 car that I've ever owned that I can ACTUALLY DRIVE! LOL

It's a 1928 Chrysler rumble seat roadster. Original dash and gauges, original top frame with good wood, decent interior, etc. Body is solid as can be and everything seems nice and original and unmolested. It does have a late model Mopar 318 engine and auto with mopar brakes at all four corners and a late model rear axle. Needs tires BADLY as these are at least 40 years old. I'm going to tinker with it and drive it and try and just enjoy it as-is with the faded paint, barely visible hand painted red pinstripes and the rest of it in its old glory.

Can anyone pin down the model number with any certainty? Is it a model 70?

The wheels are late 50's Mopar wire wheels. The only problem swapping them out for something else is that there are 6 of them. If the wheels in the fender wells don;t match the wheels on the car, it looks kind of lame.

Hard to find car. Very nice. It would look good with original wheels and new tires. Those small 15" wheels/tires don't fill the wheel openings very well...just my opinion.

  9. Looks like a Model 70. I saw that on Espay- glad a Hamber got it! It'll look 100% better with original wheels.

    Cool car!

I like the mopar rims, car just needs dropped 4-6 inches and they'll look fine ;)

LOL, it's actually a golf bag door. Golf bags were a lot smaller back then.

  13. The wheels would be fine, I think, if you could lower it so it doesn't look like it has the clearance of an off-road truck. Would need a good 3 or 4 inches, though.

VERY NICE! That may be a Model 72 the 70 was from 1927. Does it have that beautiful Chrysler tube front axle? Take two wheels off it and reverse the tires to see how much better it will look with new BLACKWALL tires! Here is one I got to work on back in 1968

Most other cars called this a "sport roadster" because of the dual spares and golf door. Nice find.

Exactly the stance I was thinking of... that makes the wires and whites look pretty good on that car... IMHO.

And how exactly does one lower a car with a straight front axle?

Great car with great updates. Congratulations!

I like the wheels. Just use with high profile WWW. Lowering would be aces.

Bob Kehoe in Fullerton, CA built a really nice black hot rod 1928 Chrysler 72 roadster but I cannot find any photos of it. It ha s been at the L.A. Roadster Show on various occasions. Has anyone got any photos of it they can post?

I don't know, but I'm guessing there are MORE than enough leafs in the front springs to remove a few, and even improve the ride.

Those look like the Kelsey-Hayes type of wire wheels...you can get some pretty good money for those. But I like them on the car.....I like the whole car and it's cool they upgraded the power train...but kept the rest pretty stock looking.
How much are you asking for it? :)

Piece of cake, you add lowering blocks just as you would with a rear on parallel springs.

  30. Not the best pic, but this is a DeSoto roadster similar to the Chrysler.
Owned by George Asche of Venus, PA, the overdrive ****** guru.

Here's the best part of that old car and its many modifications.......
No clue what most of those things do.

I like the chrome wire wheels.....since that is the same type as on my car.
Mine actually came off a '55 Chrysler. But they were used in the 40s and
    50s on several different models.

Did you know, Mopar even made the exact same wheel but painted
instead of chrome. Same center cap. Got these off an original '54
    Plymouth.
