I've been reading this magazine for a few years now, and I think it's about time I said something about it. I'm just going through my latest issue, and must say, the cars and events covered are XLNT, as well is the photography. What I really like is the small summary of each event/car, without all the foo foo, "filler" bulll****. Just the facts/highlights. Then, an xlnt caption to each picture, thoroughly explaining the car, it's owner, and specific "mods" made to the car. I'm not one for reading page after page of "filler" **** on a car or event. Just the facts, and great pictures. Xlnt job, I just had to say it, and keep up the great work
You have to give Dreadman credit for alot of the pic's! He has a great eye!!! At least in the last few issues...
I've always had a lot of trouble keeping focused on longer writings. Because of that, I did pretty bad in school if I wasn't very interested in the subject. I need the writer to get to the point quickly, leave out the "fluff" or I would just drift away. It's just how I'm wired I guess.
Rolls & Pleats is a great mag is what I've always told all my friends. With all the of the mags out these days it's the only one I kee up with.
Yea I agree,Groucho! "Bad Bob's Merc, blah blah blah, cat came through the hole in floor, blah blah blah, broke down on the way home"! LOL!!! Yep,they're to the point! HA HA HA!
Rolls and Pleats, and this one! Makes for a good library. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80746
True. I really like the fact they are very thorough in pointing out the smallest "mods". Even if it's a one-pic coverage of one car at an event of many other cars. They almost give you as much info in one caption, as some do in a whole article. Especially small details that may get overlooked. I've seen a caption on one picture that named as many as a 1/2 dozen "mods", AND who owns it
Gotta say, I've taken pictures for the past few issues, but credit goes to Jerry, who puts it all together. He does his research, making sure things are accurate. Rolls & Pleats, is a car guy's magazine, not a hipster, Rockabilly, what's new, what's groovy, kind of deal. I'm proud to have contributed, to such a fine publication.
It is a very well set up magazine, and not hard at all to find. I get every copy in about 3 days from Mike ,at http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/ Alliance vendor.-MIKE
Definitely my favorite mag out there, and the only one i'll buy the second it comes out, without having to flick thru first, knowing it will be full of killer cars. Great job Jerry and crew... keep it up!
rolls and pleats kicks *** ive even gone so far as making sure i have all back issues picked up 1 2 and 3 earlier this year on ebay. great read. gotta hit up peddro for issue 29 soon.
I've said before and I'll say it again,One of the BEST by a long way.If I had to have only 3 magazines(God forbid)it would be one of the 3.Some magazines I treat with no respect i.e. pull page out e.t.c,Not Rolls 'n' Pleats.I look after them.A bit sad may be but I don't care!!!!
I just ordered the latest issue through The Hotrod Company. There was a note the flooding had hit them pretty hard.
I missed this thread last month. I just want to say to all of you a big thank-you for the nice words, especially Groucho for starting the thread! A big thank-you also goes to contributors like Dreadman, who are doing an ace job. By the way, the next issue is going to be late (I've been redecorating our appartment... very boring stuff...)... but I'm working full steam on the mag now
