I searched and found a little bit mentioned about the Pottsville Cruise in August. We're thinking about packing up the kids and driving down sunday morning and spending the day before taking the kids back to Knoebels the next day. Just wondering who's planning on going and what to expect? Sounds like a cool show-any input?
See www.thegreatpottsvillecruise.com and also nearby in Bloomsburg the same weekend see www.rodandcustomcruisein.com. Haven't been to either event so can't help there. Have been to Knoebel's grove and Yuengling brewery in Pottsville, both are a trip back in time not to be missed.
I saw the info on the site for the cruise-just wondering if anybody had gone before. It's the weekend of August 9th-10th with an appearance from Dennid Gage. I'll definately check out the brewery-haven't done that yet. Knoebels is worth the trip in itself-the wife and I enjoy it as much as the kids!
I'll be there Sat nite at the Coney Island, and Sunday 4-6 to cruise. Pottsville is an old, hard-coal mining town in NE Pa. The cruise is on 2-lane two-way streets, and the sidewalks are narrow, so the residents gather on their front porches for the best view in town. This event is known as much for the laid back "porch parties" as for the cars. Cars need to register to cruise, I think it's a $10 donation.
