So we buy our 56 Pontiac and we left it w/ a mechanic to look it over. The mechanic left it outside on an unsecured lot (we asked him to pull it inside their bay - but said they couldn't) So we put a car cover over the car. It was only there for 1 day when some ***hole w/ **** for brains decided that it might be fun to light it on fire! Thankfully a cop happened to be driving by and put the fire out so it only damaged the roof. But not before there were some on lookers just standing there watching it burn - ***holes.
******* that ****s. thank god for the cop though. and i would make the shop pay for it. it was in their custody. i know my shop would cover it.
Human's never cease to amaze me with retarded antics. Wonder how these type of people would feel if someone was to do it to THIER stuff... Dumb ***es.
OH HELL YEAH! All that is being taken care of. What ****s the most is that we haven't even driven in it yet. And now it is just screwing everything we had planned to do. Our first cl***ic car and this WTF.
I had to have the frame straightened on my 56 Pontiac. I asked the shop also to not leave it outside. They of course did. Luckily I only lost one V-8 fender emblem. It will be the last work they do for me.
Happened to me they ripped my instrument panel up at a shop. The shop is responsible for any damage to your car. Their insurance should pay for any damage to your car.
it's just all BS. We have it at another shop and they are in progress with mechanical repairs. next stop - will be paint (don't know how long). Summer is almost over - hope to get some driving in....
we couldnt condone hunting down the perpatraitors and setting them on fire, giving them a gasoline douche and lighting them up would be very very wrong..
What a pain in the ***!! I do hope you are able to fry the S.O.B. that did it. Vandalism is treated so lightly by the courts but, arson is a serious crime. Look at the bright side if you can. This is the best excuse possible for that metalflake roof you've always wanted.....Don.
A lot of shops in my area don't cover customers cars unless the damage/loss is directly caused by the shop. One shop had a restored '57 Chevy convertible. It was stolen from their fenced in lot during daylight hours. The car owners insurance had to cover the loss.
hey, enough i have a vintage honda i've been working on for a decade, it's no different then them torching the other car, it's not right for some *** hole to go around torching any bodys car. how would you feel if someone didn't like your car then suggested why didn't they burn yours instead? whether it's import or domestic any car that someone has busted their *** building deserves the same respect. i hate those dam ricer mobiles with the ugly wheels and the airplane wings on the trunk lid,but i wouldn't want someone to burn it, i'm in the same boat as a lot of the domestic guys on finding ****,it's not easy,i've been looking for a piece of trim for two years now. point is don't talk about trashing other people cars like that, i respect others cars no matter what make they are, i have spent thousands of hours working on mine and it really shows ignorance when some says they hate it just because of who makes it. i'm on this forum because i really enjoy the work that goes into everyones cars, i'm so sick of this hate some elses car because it's an import ****. any one of you guys on here i would help you with your cars any time if i was able. there are alot of people trying to shut down the car hobby who hate us, we need to stick together. and spartan i hope your new car is ok,hope the roof sheet metal didn't warp or anything.
My friend left a 59 cady eldorado conv for trany work, outside it was torched. Just been completely restored new paint, upholstery, top and the engine done.

no i'm on this forum becaue i like traditional hot rods too, plus a lot of people here do real work, not the cosmetic stuff that a lot of sites do. my dad was and is a traditional rodder as well as my uncles, and i grew up in a garage working around this kind of stuff, thats why i like it here. my post has nothing to do with what car is right or wrong, but i don't think it's right to say yea just go burning someone elses car. just because it's an import, most of the traditional guys who have seen my car, like it, because i do stuff completly out of the box,and don't pay any attention to whatever trends happen to be out there. i'm not trying to throw this thread off topic, but it's ignorant to say burn it because they don't like the make of the car. i'm searching for a traditional car to start working on also, it's tough to do when you are on a budget, but when someone does this kind of **** to another persons car it pisses me off because i understand what it means to them. someday i will probably inherit my dads 28 chrysler with the small block to finish, and i would want to kill someone who did this **** to it.
I put my car cover on EVERY night, but two weeks ago, before the Gasoline show in El Segundo, some ****nuts egged it! I have to accept some of the blame for not putting it on that night. NO other cars on my street or in my neighborhood got hit. Just mine! Chipped a little paint off where the three eggs hit. I would have PAID to catch them...
while I have always paid for anything that happens to a customers car (even when it wasn't my fault), I have no legal reason to do so. it's just me being corteous. There is no law on the books (that I am aware of, anyway) that says I have to repair something damaged in the lot. This situation is ****ty six ways from sunday. Heck, even if the shop that left it outside repaired the damage, the simple fact of the matter is Jealousy, pure and simple, was the reason for this attack. Vandalism (in this form) is nothing more than "If I can't have it, then YOU shouldn't either." God forbid anyone work for something these days. I was recently test driving a really, really nice off topic car on a test drive. I pulled it in to put some gas in the tank (every bit of the 20 bucks I had in my pocket) and I caught a ration of **** from a couple of guys. It would seem anyone driving a restored 68 Charger around Austin is rich, and therefore, have no business filling it up at the local gas station. I played along like the car was mine. I told them (lying through my teeth) that I had done every bit of work to it, and it was finally done after a 5 year restoration. I told them I had spent money on the car instead of eating right, or paying bills on time. This car was the only thing I had ever really wanted, and how ****ing dare them give me **** for owning it! They were much more pleasant afterwards. The reason I decided to tell this tall tale is 2 fold. while I didn't spend the money on the Charger, I have spent the money on every other ****box I own, with the hopes they will one day be as nice as it is. The second reason is, I would be heartbroken for the owner if he ever parked it somewhere (not alot of them just like it around) and one of these douchebags damaged it after I stomped thier ****ing guts out at a gas station. I know the current owner bought it 99 percent done, and probably doesn't know a whole helluva lot about it, but I know this... He LOVES that stupid car. and it is My duty to make sure it is always in good hands when it is in my care. and I know it about ALL my customers.
i know how you feel, my wife and i have put so much into my little car, even if some people call it a **** box, i can't tell you how many late nights i spent doing metal work,or sewing the upholstery for the interior,or fabricating one off parts for it, or the time i nearly got bit by a rattler at the yard trying to get parts. ditto for the not eating right or paying bills on time, we are still at that point and have a long way to go,i hope when i am done i will have something different then most cars on the road. and the main thing is i did it myself. so if someone ****s with it, well i'm not going to incriminate myself.
The problem with this theory...the guys who do this ****, don't have **** and are jealous of the **** they do it to! I am a firefighter, and I thwarted an arson yesterday, a kid tried to burn down an abandoned school. The sherriff said the evidence and the witness statements were not strong enough to even threaten the kid, but I will be talking to his mother and I am certain he won't be doing it again!!
The best way to thwart an arsonist is to make sure they have a little accident and manage to burn down their pecker instead of whatever building/vehicle/object their original goal was to set on fire.
Hate to say it, but I can see that happening in Abington (I grew up right outside of Philly)- where was the shop?
yea the at***ude of a lot of these punks and hood rats today is, if I can't have it i'll take it from you,and if i can't i'll destroy it or you.
All the more reason to buy the tools and learn to do the work yourself. The car is always under your control and almost always the work is done right....
True, but if I had to wait until I had the time to learn all that I needed to learn, even to get started, and had the funds to do it-I'd never have anything on the road! Also, to think I could learn in months, what has taken a skilled body person, painter or upholsterer a lifetime is rather presumptuous, but I appreciate your estimation of my potential talent.
