Now that's a neat change of pace from the usual entry here. I like it. How about some tall bias- ply blackwalls along with a lowering to bring the look around?

It was listed on e-bay two weeks ago. I bid on it, but it did not meet reserve. It bid to $14,600, but I was not the high bidder. When the auction was over I was invited out to take a look at it after the second auction started. I went to look at it thinking it was going to look worse than the dark and tiny pictures from the listing. Buit when I got there it actually looked better in person than the e-bay pics made it look! I made an offer substantially less than the winning bid from the last auction and they accepted! :) I don't know why they haven't taken the listing down yet. Maybe it's like deal or no deal and they want to see if they made a good sale! LOL.

I put new WW radials on it today just so I could drive it a little. But I've got a set of big and small old style TT's that I'm thinking about putting on it temporarily. :)

I took it to its first cruise night tonight! I threw on a set of late model radials (at least they are safe) and took it on its maiden (for me) voyage. I was going to replace all six but they are way too fat to fit in the fender wells! Went to a local cruise night where a bunch of people came by to look at it and talk about it. Nobody knew what it was and everyone had to read the radiator emblem. A lot of people were thrown off by tghe 50's Chrysler wire wheels and thought it was a "Shay" model A, LOL Later a 31 Plymouth roadster pulled up across the isle. It still caughed and died a few times due to fuel interuption, but at least I know it runs! And it runs sweet too! It's even fast and sounds good with the cherry bombs under it! I was not expecting it to perform as well as it did or sound as good as it does! I'm having a lot of fun with her~ :)

But you guys have made me "stance concious" so I'm going to be picking up a lowering block kit next week.

do yourself a favor and put it back original if you can. those cars will break the bank restored. a neighbor down my street just sold his phaeton for almost $200K and it was a 31 or 32. he said he is making room for a Packard dual cowl phaeton he just bought to restore.

Not that it has any thing to do with the original thread. I was Talking to George Asche this afternoon. I was asking him about the interior of his roadster(the one pictured above) He told me about a lot of the stuff on the dash. Under the 50's desoto hvac controls is a air preasure gauge and control to increase/decrease the air preasure to the rear air shocks on the fly.If you pull out the panel it slides out and there is a stainless sink about 4"x4", the spigot can be turned on, so yes he has everything on the dash including the kitchen sink.

i saw a dart witha slant 6 that an old farmer dude ( who else ) installed a graden hose tap on a long pipe that ran under the middle of the dash, through the firewall and was plumbed into the intake...he could, by his own admission, open the tap while driving and therefore lean out the mixture and get awesome mileage. seriously, i seen it !

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that this is the same model of Chrysler that raced at LeMans in 1928. Very cool car. I don't care for the '50s wire wheels, though.

The photo is a 1:18 scale replica of

Chrysler offered wire wheels as accessories on the Imperial, Chrysler, DeSoto and Dodge lines but not for Plymouth.
The Imperial wheels were 5 on 5 1/2" cicle and all were chrome-plated.
The Chrysler wheels were 5 on 4 1/2" circle and all were chrome-plated.
The DeSoto and Dodge wheels were 5 on 4 1/2" circle and available chrome-plated or painted. The spoke pattern and hubs were different on the DeSoto/Dodge wheels from the Imp/Chrysler wheels.
    All accept the same hubcaps.
