Does anyone know of a Treasure Yard in central Arkansas, Fayettville, Jonesboro, or something like that? I went thru there about ten years ago and almost wrecked the car straining to see what was parked along the road. We went back and took a "tour", and damn, the guy had some awesome stuff! Then the guy took us into his barn to show us his collection of another 50 or so restored cars and about 150 pedal cars, petro signs etc. I had a ***** ****** couldn't beat for about a month. Anyway, we are in Heber Springs this weekend, so if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please drop me a line!
I can't remember the hwy number, but North from Conway, up to Clinton, A few miles on North of Clinton, the road goes North and the other fork goes East, right there at the intersection is a motherload. I bought parts there maybe 10 years ago. Cars, trucks, tractors, and everything inbetween. Another good one was south of Benton. HellRaiser
Not Jonesboro. If you find it send me a PM. For once, I'd like to know about some cars fellow HAMBer BJ Harris has not scoped out already.
The one just north of Clinton east of Botkinburg has been crushing for several years and nothing worth getting is left. In Clinton, on Highway 65, Paul's Body Shop usually has some good tin for sale. The one in Corning is still there, mostly GM (Cadillac, Buick, Olds) and the guy is very knowledgeable and knows what his stuff is worth. He's a really good guy...I have one of his cards around here someplace if I can find it. I think the yard you're thinking of was just north of Harrison, and it has been all crushed to make way for the expansion of Highway 65. If you're in Heber, take the 25/5 byp*** around the east side of Heber to 110 (Wilburn Rd). Go east from there a couple of miles and there's a guy who sells old stuff on the north side of the road. I'll PM his name and phone in case you want to check it out. He would also know what salvage yards are in the area, etc. There's also the Vintage Auto Salvage in Possum G****.
Here's the info on the yard at Possum G**** VINTAGE AUTO SALVAGE 7411 Highway 367 N Bradford,AR 72020 (501) 344-8370
The one at Botkinburg north of Clinton is Prout's Garage. They are east of Hwy 65 on 110. The intersection of Hwy 65 and 110 is where the Antique Warehouse is located, which is a huge antique furniture place. 2781 Highway 110 Clinton, AR 72031 (501) 745-2913
Prouts, that's the one. This was back around 96 when I was up there. I can't remember now what I did get from him. That was when I had a 66 Galaxie. I wish I could tell the directions to that one south of Benton. I'm not even sure I could remember how to get there. All I can remember about that one was the original 46 or 47 Indian Chief inside, and a 29 Ply coupe that was a hot rod once upon a time. Some good stuff outside, but I can't even remember now what all I did see there. Down around Magnolia, I remember driving the roads there was some good stuff. A 49..50 Merc is what I rember seeing from the road. Oh well, now that CRS has settled in. HellRaiser
I was informed that Herbie (Prout) was or has basically crushed all that was left from the last run. He is easily in his 80's now and the boys are now working the repair shop, mostly tractors and pre computer stuff now.. I noticed a mag on the shelf a month or so ago mentioning a yard just north of Jacksonville, I believe it has been mentioned on the board previously.. I asked about the the Harrison yard (yarboroughs was it??) a couple of years back to another yard in Harrrison, he told me that they did move some stuff but of course the heavier stuff was crushed. Mr. Tarkington's family cleared out his property a year or so ago (Wholly Hollow, N of Greenbrier). NW of Greenbrier, Robert (??) on Republican did have a few older cars if still has There's always Sonny's, nice guy when ya get to know him, if he'll let ya.
There was a guy just outside of Beebe when I was younger but most of his stuff was early 60s to early 70s. I got some parts for my '64 Falcon out there. My dad and I took many a saturday morning trip out there when I was 12-15. Very interesting to hear all these others. It seems like there was some old cars along 167N or maybe even north of where 167 ends (turns into 63) but alot of that road has been straightened out over the years too. I'm not -that- old but there has been alot of old stuff that has ended up as s**** iron...
