I am in the process of building a model "A" sedan. I would like to make it right side drive but i am having a problem finding the correct manual steering box. I have a corvair box i could reverse and mount under dash and do cowl steering. does anyone know of a box i can mount on top of frame traditional steering? thanks in advance for any advice
I dont know any boxes that you have suggested, but if you would like to make it into cross steering you need a saginaw box from a 1964 Chevy C10 pickup and box the front rail and fit it inside the rail. That same box was used on Australian RHD cars it is all about the configuration. As soon as you look at this box the penny will drop. If you need more info PM me and I will post more stuff. If you are set on push pull style steering I can not help unless you find a column from an Argentinia vehicle that somebody has converted to LHD lets say an early F100. Russ.
EASY! Find an early 1950's Studebaker box, they had the pitman arm on the inside of the box and it will bolt right on. Had the setup on an old drag car. If I can find the photo I'll post it.
Thanks.... I will look into that box. I rversed my corvair box today. It will work mounted upside down. So I will have to do cowl steering if i go with the corvair box, but nothing is set in stone.
Just run through it in your head. A box that will turn you right (side steer) on a LHD car, will also turn you right if flipped and mounted on the other side of the car. Just the mount will look different. Pete
