Mom & dad split up when I was in 1st grade. Before the start of 2nd grade, Mom wanted Dad to take me shopping for a new "Back to school" jacket. I guess he did this to piss her off?
I remember them one inseam fits all jeans when I was growing up, with shorter than average inseam my cuffs were always halfway up to my knees. Nice coat too. jim h
I can't imagine why that would piss her off, maybe he did it because he loved ya. A leather jacket that was worth owning has always been a sacrifice even when life was cheaper. Ya ought to be damned proud of those pics.
I remember those. I had one very similar to yours around the time I was in 2nd or 3rd grade (1955-56). I thought it was cool.
It looks like you are looking to collect from the milkman. A little protection money mabey and you will keep the rival dairy out of the neighborhood
I did a similar thing to piss off my ex-*****. My son was @ 6 month she told me he needed a haircut so I got him his first mohawk! Sure did piss her off and the next week he had a skinhead. Now that he looks back at the pics (15 yrs later) he thought that was the coolest thing. You should feel the same, a killer leather jacket for a 6-7 yr old..........PRICELESS

LOOK AT THOSE CUFFS!! That first pic is GREAT! You even have the "what the hell are you looking at" face workin'! A junior hoodlum you were.... Haha.. Thats for sharing. Tony
Two things...how long did it take you to grow into the jeans? Looks like the Divco needed a little body work
I think you are standing in front of 46 Plymouth coupe in the second pic. You were a great looking kid, but do you have more pics of the car???? You're just a couple years older than me & I remember those jackets vividly from the day. Thanks
Your dad know how to raze a kid right. That a cool picture..... The first pic is in front of a milk truck, was your dad a milk man. If so we might be related
Awsome pic there Pat!! I remember wanting a jacket like that, but my parents would never go for it. First time I got the money, I bought my own! Hope you are well, Spike
In the mid 50's while in grade school, my buddy across the street in our little town had one of these motor jackets and brother did he look way cool! Mike also had an older brother who bought the small sized Car Craft and Rod & Custom mags. I drooled each time I looked at them. Looking at those exotic hand built rides - and we couldn't even drive yet! Anyway........................ now, years later, I got the jacket and the exotic ride. Better late than never! -Ruffdawg Guthrie, OK
GREAT PIC Pat!!! I remember my first leather jacket.Got it when I was in the 7th grade in exchange for some striping on a motorcycle.Didn't matter that the zipper was broken(froze my *** of in the winter)and it was a little big(the guy I did the bike for was HUGE),I wore that thing everywhere;even in the summer.Did some striping on the back too. That disappeared when I went in the Navy.Grandfather died while I was in and when I returned a few years later the house was sold and all my stuff had been disposed of including my huge collection of hot rod mags dating back to 1950.
Sure is! I LOVED that jacket. Dad got me a pair of "Engineer's Boots" too. They had double soles. Mom was NOT impressed! In third grade, I had a babysitter that helped me paint a flaming eyeball on the back. I think the jacket disappeared shortly after that. Mom never allowed me to be "cool." I'm almost 58 years old and still have "issues" as a result. The first job I remember Dad having was Service Manager of a Nash dealership. My first vehicle was a creeper. He had been a Maryland State Trooper when he knocked my Mom up (they never married so I really am a Fat *******!!) No photos of Dad's old cars, sorry....
I still have mine! It don't fit but I still have it. My Dad is in to Harleys, that how I ended up with one. Jacket and a Harley which I bought myself.... Runs in the family ...
