To those that don't know me, or my Truck, I don't often boast or self promote. So, please allow me this, as it is a love story(as I believe) appropriate for the H.A.M.B.

The first time I saw her, was at the Continental Club in Austin. I happened to be there for a High School Ceaser concert. My wife and I had been waiting a few months to see these guys and were ready for a great show.
About halfway through the first set, I stepped out for a smoke; and almost swallowed my stogey when I saw her. She was parked front & center; as if purposely, so she could still get a view of the stage through the open front doors. In the neon glow she appeared warm and wide eyed, with her gleaming, chrome teeth glistening in her grille, between those fat, copper-colored fenders. I was instantly drawn to her. The experience sounded to me, like the song of the Siren. Soulfull, southern & bluesy... like La Virgen de Guadalupe, a true vision of the Soul, which is South Austin.

I had to have her. She is known simply, as "The Merc Truck".

    Backstory: '51 Mercury M1 P.U.
I bought this truck about 6 months ago from my (now) good friend John Joyo of the Austin Speed Shop. ( http://www.austinspeedshop.com/ ) He bought the truck from a guy in Canada named Kieth, who had purchased the thing from Jamie Hamilton, also in Canada. Keith didn't have it very long from my understanding.
You can see what Jamie started with and where he took it, on his website: http://www.jwhkustoms.com/ clik on the projects tab at the top. I am proud to say that Jamie has volunteered to reunite the truck with its original "Mercury" stamped tailgate.

Beautiful truck! I can see how you fell in love. The color combination does it. Is it bagged?

I have a similar story....about that same truck!! Although I have never seen in person and have only witnessed it's beauty through this here Computer Screen. I have to be honest when I tell you that the truck makes me a bit speechless when I see it. It's very cool to see the truck again and to hear your p***ion. I hope it treats you well my friend. Don't be such a stranger to the HAMB. I know more of us would like to see that truck from time to time.

I really miss that truck. It's a good one for sure. Glad you ended up with it man! Switchblade327 here on the HAMB painted it in my garage at home before Skratch striped and scalloped it. Still one of my favorite Fat Lucky's interiors ever.

Beautiful truck! As soon as I saw it I figured it was Austin...that place is pretty. My old band played there a few times, they (from what I remember) shut the streets down to cars and it was like this insane Mardi Gras. My friends and I walked around (all from Jersey) just to watch the fights after the bars closed. It was like a freaking boxing ring.

  13. Would it be possible for you to down-size the 2nd photo?

Makes reading the text tough since you have to go back and forth and I do want to read the story.

    Neat truck though....

I love the truck too and had I known that John was willing to part with it, I'm not going to say there might have been a bidding war for I don't do that, but I sure wish I would have asked him 1st.

Last year at the HAMB Drags I took a lot of pictures of your truck, when it was still John's, for I was looking for a striper to do some lines on our Caddy. As soon as we got back from the Drags we emailed John and asked him who striped his truck,,,needless to say Skratch put some lines on our Caddy during the Roundup this year.

It sounds as if you are enjoying the truck and the Fat Lucky interior and are loving it as much as I would have and for that I am glad. Enjoy !!!

    Love the truck!

The first 2 photos were very nicely done and really show off the beauty of the truck.
