Whats a fair price for a mostly there '34 Ford Pickup? The cab and doors are rusty but solid. The bed is rough. There is no hood or fenders, but the grill is there...albeit pretty beaten up. The frame is obviously very rusty, but looked like it could be cleaned up and used. No drivetrain, but does have the original wheels in poor condition. I made what I felt was a reasonable offer, but the guy won't come off it for less than $5,500. I don't have that kind of scratch laying around even if I was willing to part with it for this truck, but I'd like to put a gauge on whether or not this guy is in the ballpark and I'm really as cheap as my wife says I am, or if this fella has been watching too much Barret-Jackson! Thanks.

Sounds pricey to me for what you've described. I just bought one in pieces not too long ago in similar condition to what you describe minus the bed for $1800.

I bought a "A" framed 34 cab. Complete roller, just no engine or trans for less that 1/2 of that. Over all in fairly good shape, some rust thru here and there, but nothing to serious. Even came with a spare cowl, decent WW tires and rims.

    Sounds fair at 3g's ....
especially with no drivetrain or fenders. imho

but...as Deuce roadster says... you never pay too much but you may buy too early.
Youre not going to find one at a neighboring car lot.

I think the guy is nuts. It sounds like it is mostly gone by your description. Wheels shot, bed shot, grille beat, no hood or fenders, very rusty frame is probably worse than you think, no engine or trans. It sounds like maybe a frame and cab is most of what is usable. I can't judge w/o seeing it, but it seems like he might be about 4-5 times higher than what it's worth.

I have to say if it were in good condition then maybe at that price. With it being rusty and beatup more like 3,000 give or take 500 on condition. Heck I have a 32 truck with the same parts but all in great conditon for a bit more:eek:.
I also picked up a nice Old Hotrod Truck built in the 1950's for a bit more but still a real nice truck and it's going to need a new home..:D

If doors are actually solid, or even just repairable, they are the most valuable bit described.

I just could have had a 35 ford truck almost complete body and bed on the stock frame rolling for 1500 needed some patch panles .

Put patches on the doors and they are worth $750 to $1000 apiece. What the rest is worth depends on the condition.

Call it "heavy patina". There's still some paint there, lots of surface rust and some pitting, but no holes yet.

It does have clear ***le, which is a main reason I was pursuing this one. Virginia DMV is a pain in the *** to deal with if you don't have all of your paperwork in good order. Not sure if it was a 4 or 8 cyl truck.

    I think 34's were all V8's.

Take a look at some trucks as cabs are the same and the years 1932 thru to 1934 are not much different.
Hardest parts to find are doors and rear fenders depending on what your plans are.
Repro pickup box from Last Refuge in CO is well priced around $600 to $1000 depending on your needs.

Take a look at that Confused 34 Pickup build thread on this site.

We bought this cab and doors fo 200 bucks. I'm not located near the hot rod scene, but there's a few good things about living in Montana. Stuff like this can still be found with relative ease.
