Fred hails from Maynard, Mass. and built his 32 in 51-53. It is channelled and virtually untouched from the first build. It is on ebay rite now. Big bucks, but it is one of my all time favorite cars. Would love to have it. Unfortunately I have to build my cars, that is the only way I can afford to play. Nutz
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6057&item=2484264392&rd=1 35 grand ( 1 bid Reserve not met ) It says in the listing "can talk to Fred.........." so he is still alive, but the Ebayer selling the 32 is not Fred.
A truly beautiful , landmark car...I hope it makes the amount it deserves to make and hope Freds selling her because he wants to and not because he has to. You cant build in history when replicating these old rods , so what value do you put on something like this ?
This rod was also featured in Mag-Neto issue #3. not sure why Fred is selling it. But I for one will be disappointed if it leaves this area and we'll no longer be able to see it in person at the Ty-Rods reunion or other events! It's amazing that it's survived all these years unchanged. I'd put it up against anything in the Peterson Museum or Pebble Beach hot rod events.
Yup,its one of my old time favories too. Can't believe its for sale.Hopefully it goes to a good home......Shiny
[ QUOTE ] He must have been the first guy to buy them aftermarket hubcaps..................OLDBEET [/ QUOTE ] Actually the car originally had 50-51 Cadillac hubcaps on it mounted using Ford beauty rings fastened to the caps but they kept falling off.Last time I talked to Fred he said he still had 2 of the originals left. I can't believe he's selling the car either.I'll have to ring him and see what's happening.
There was a post on here not long ago with Fred's full fendered deuce roadster that was sold on ebay. He must be whittling down his collection. I think he still has a neat T-bucket he built in the early sixties and his chopped Merc. I also see in the pics of the channeled purple car a full fendered A in the garage and a T-bird. Fred must be getting on in years. I still can't believe he is parting with the purple roadster. How do you sell something you have had for 50 years? Nutz
