OT: Don't hate me, but.........

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Beep, Jul 31, 2008.

  1. Don't hate me, but I gotta do it. I have to un-retire after only three months. ****, I only received two SSA checks and have to pay that back. But when E**onMobil called me and ask me to come back with them and offered up good money for a job right here in Houston, well,,,see below.

The story, as you most of you are already aware, the wife has the dreaded cancer . However, the Dr said just today that he feels that she is 99.99% curable :D. He got it all and, as it turns out, the pathology shows that only one (1) Lympth node is involved and only slightly :D:D. However, there will be chemo involved :( and all that treatment will be expensive. Too expensive for SS.

    So, E**onMobil, :p here I come. **** **** Damn Hell!

Take the money Beep and I might be joining you only across the street at those Dutch guys if next interview goes well. I'll take the gas money!

Get the wife better and take a couple of hundred thou extra off the boys then retire again. You could make a new career of retiring and going back for more dough!.

Hang in there guy! They do great things with treatments now.
My wife had it over four years ago and is still free of it.
She caught hers very, very early. So early that the doctors
    couldn't believe it.

After four years I have come to hate this disease.
It is a sneak and a thief that will try to rob you both of your selves.
Stay strong and supportive and even though it may sound selfish now...
don't forget to care about yourself.

sorry to hear that! i beat cancer over 15 years ago and that is what i said after the first round of chemo. **** DUDE! the second round of chemo was something i wouldn't wish on anyone! thought i was one tough muther ****er and found out different, kinda like having a gallon of ANTIFREEZE plugged into your veins. those memories are so bad it bums a guy out even thinking about it. keep your fingers crossed and hold on for the ride. hope for the best dude and our prayers are with you! sorry for getting off track hope for the best with your wife.

  24. Sir, you are what they used to call 'A MAN'...you take responsibility for your words, your deeds, your actions and your family. You don't whine, you don't complain, you do what is necessary and I for one, admire you for it. I salute you for doing what is right for your family-you and your Mrs will get through this and come out the other side closer, more in love and have a greater appreciation for one another.

As for un-retiring, just think of the new pay increase as an 'economic correction' for all those years they underpaid you! You and your knowledge obviously have value that they simply cannot find on the open market today. Value that they obviously have a need for-take the money, you earned it.

Good news.............about the job and especially about the wife. I don't know what I'd do without mine.
Just heard the E**on made 5 MILLION/HR PROFIT the last quarter. The oil companies can afford to pay you double if they have to to get you back.

  26. Glad to hear your wife is on the road to recovery...congrats on the money bump...though we all know you are just going for the employee discount at the pump...see if they can at least start giving us a few tumbler or apollo coin or something for the enormous investment we make at the pump...continued good health to you and your wife...you deserve it!

As others have said, a mensch. Best wishes to you and your wife. If they offer her a mediport, have her take it. Well worth the small amount of discomfort to alleviate further sticks for lab draws.

I have been helping my Father through Chemo for 2 months now and have another 5 more months of it to go. It hasn't been too bad on him so far. Best wishes to your wife and I pray for everything to work out for the two of you.

  30. Thanks to everyone for all the kind words. But it isn't me that deserves them, it is her. She has kept a good strong at***ude through all of this so far. Acts kinda like it's just another "bump-in-the road".
