Hey Fellas- King of Clubs this year was EPIC! Miguel and the Lifters did a fantastic job, and it was by far the best one yet. The track's support of the event helped immensely, and having the entire facility to ourselves made all the difference in the world. The club vs. club racing is what this shit is all about, and was really fun. The grandstands were packed and I had a blast making a couple passes in the Devil's Grocery Getter against Butch Caltins from the Lifters in his saweet Willys pickup. We were going for 2 out of 3, and on the second pass, we both broke and left it at 1 each. That's racing, and that's ok. There will be a grudge match next time around. The bands were awesome, and I can honestly say that I saw more smiles at this car show than any other in a long long time. Traditional rods and kustoms everywhere, cute chicks and happy, greezy dudes. With everyone's support, it's gonna be even bigger and better next year. The King of Clubs perpetual trophy is gonna live in my garage for the next year, and I'm callin out ALL you fukkers who think your car is quick to drop your exhaust, advance your timing, get a splash of 110 octane, grab a helmet, line up and make a pass! I wanna see the next winner heft this crown-topped motherf'in hunk of heavy metal over his head. Then again, I might just whip yer ass and take it home again...I dare ya to try. Much love to my fellow clubs out there. If ya get a chance, read my column "The Bouleverd Crawl" on the back page of CKD. This month's installment is about exactly what this show represents- Brotherhood and respect between clubs, and the preservation of traditional hot rodding, customizing and racing whatcha built. Like my brother Chop sez..."Build it, race it, fix it and race it again". Amen. And, thanks again Miguel, from all of the Road Devils! Dale Van Zant RDFL
Nice trophy Dale and don't loose it man I spent hours building it! Good to see again this year and your cars keeps getting faster. Those that have not been out to our show are missing out big time, this is what a hot rod show should be, drag racing, bands, and burlesque show! See you next year! Tex
Thanks guys for having us out there! Everyone that I came with definitaly had a blast! We only had the green 60 caddy, and the blue and silver 53 chevy, but next time there will be more. Did not have one bad vibe the entire time we were there, and there was tons of good looking cars to check out. Thanks again from the Los Peligrosos, we will be back!
You asked for it Dale, I'm coming to take the trophy from you. Which is fine 'cause it will stay in the club. I'm just wondering where I'll put that big fucker. Guess I got a year to figure it out and build a car fast enough to win it.
Thanks, Tex. It's got a safe spot in my garage, on top of a vintage oil drum given to me by brother Little J. And it's true, this show IS what it's all about. Next year's gonna be even better! dvz
