El Jefe's Merc and Jimmie Vaughan's Ford are two of the latest to roll out of Gary Howard's Garage - and I really love the pairing of them, visually - The inky blackness of that Merc and the crisp whiteness of the Ford - they are just cl***y, like a vintage tuxedo or a pair or ivory dice. They both epitomize what G Howard I think is best at - balance and restraint. He always hits just the right notes, and leaves out the ones you don't need. The statement they make is so super confident - I felt like looking at the lineup at the Round Up, you can see Gary really hitting a stride in these two. As a design nut - they just kill me in the visceral "rightness" that smacks you upside the head you when you look at em. Totally inspires me creatively...
